  • At least 2- 3 years working experience as SSN in any reputed hospital/clinic

  • Previous experience in working in CEmOC/Other facility will get preference

  • Working experience in public health facilities under World Bank supported Health and Gender Support Program will be preferred



Responsibilities & Context:

Project Name: ‘Inclusive Services and Opportunities for Host Communities and Displaced Rohingya Population (ISO), a project funded by the Government of Bangladesh and the World Bank’

Reportable to: UH&FPO - Upazila Health Complex at Upazila level

Accountable to: As an appointing authority, you will be accountable to PHD for legal and disciplinary procedures for which PHD will review your performances periodically. Team Leader of this project and senior officials will represent PHD.

Monitoring & Technical Assistants: PHD in collaboration with UNICEF will deploy a group of staff for round-the-clock monitoring and technical support. This may include spot check, review of performance reports and assessing technical competency.

Work station: Upazila Health Complexes (UHCs) of Kutubdia, Moheshkhali, Hatiya and Swandip

Job Objective:

To lead operational activities under Inclusive Services and Opportunities for Host Communities and Displaced Rohingya Population (ISO), a project funded by the Government of Bangladesh and the World Bank is to manage investments primarily at 4 hard-to-reach Upazilas level of care towards the strengthening of Health and Nutrition services. As a part of human resource support, PHD and UNICEF propose to provide nursing services in (Kutubdia, Moheshkhali, Hatiya and Swandip) to continue providing the quality health services.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the technical supervision of UNICEF’s Health Section, Cox’s Bazar and in close collaboration with respective UHC and relevant government institutions at Upazila-level, each Nurse, by staying in Duty Area, will undertake the following tasks, not limited to:

  • Work as a Duty Nurse in managing all medical cases - across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. Especially those will be referred from the Community in the indoor and outdoor services at the respective facilities.
  • Keeping him/herself informed about inventory, the history, physical condition, special nursing problems and medical treatment of patients.
  • Carrying out nursing routine activities on admission and discharge of patients. Giving the required assistance and instructions to patients and their relatives and provide health teaching in preparation for discharge and home care.
  • Carrying out nursing care for each patient assigned to his/her as planned as prescribed by the physician taking responsibility for:
  • Since doing cleanliness of the toilet of patients, seeing to baths and clothing for up-patients, instructing them in proper use of latrine, making beds, ensuring that patients get bedpan and urinal When needed, and that they are removed after use.
  • Carrying out routine bed making giving medications and injections personally as directed/under supervision.
  • Supervising collection, labeling and dispatch of specimens.
  • Supervising distribution of food and feeding ill or helpless patients.
  • Pre and Post-operative care under direction/supervision.
  • Assisting in-charge sister in Ward Management - cleanliness, disposal of soiled linen and dressings, maintenance of linen, equipment and supplies, reporting breakage and losses, supervision of ward attendants, control of visitors.
  • Cooperation in maintaining a team spirit.
  • Assist the doctors in minor surgical procedures.
  • Provide nursing care to the patients and performing roster duties as and when needed.
  • Assist in NVD & others OB/GYN-related patients.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control (IPC) standards across all service areas.
  • Assist Medical Doctor in conducting health examination including history taking, measurement, treatment plans, medicine management and dispensing.
  • Assist the doctors with the ward rounds and post-operative cases.
  • Provide nursingcare to the patients admittedin the inpatient wards performing roster duties as and whenneeded to cover 24/7 services.
  • Support for Caesarean operations, both as scheduled / elective and emergency operations.
  • Provide support to keep patient’s treatment and other documentation.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports (time bound ESS Performance Reporting, Accident/Incident Reporting), including those required for donor and government reporting other requests for information as required.
  • Should have willingness to receive awareness trainings related to ESS, CFM, PSEA and other applicable for the project
  • Assist conducting spot check, ESS monitoring by the auditor, UNICEF or donor
  • Take part actively during the missions conducted by UNICEF or donor
  • Support ESS focal to fulfill UNICEF and donor requirement
  • Provide support to manage supply and stock in warehouse, NSU, maternity ward, emergency to avoid stock out situations.
  • Active engagement with referral and management of transportation for the patients to higher facilities with proper documentation as per required
  • Maintain detailed patient registers, monitoring charts, and report data through Government-approved systems
  • Participate in regular maternal oversight meetings, monitor service quality, and share findings during weekly clinical sessions
  • Coordinate with data entry operators to collect medical information and other details into DHIS2 with maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform such other relevant duties assign by the UHFPO, RMO, Consultant, Medical Officer.
  • Maintain functional relation with and accountability to the in-charge of the respective facilities.
  • Any other assignment given by PHD management.
