1. Clinical Assessment & Patient Management
Perform comprehensive vital signs assessments on admission (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, consciousness level, weight).
Sort patients according to triage category based on urgency and condition.
Receive patients upon arrival and explain service procedures and modalities.
Assist with wound dressing and basic first aid under nurse supervision for trauma/ admitted patients.
Support vaccination services by preparing patients, managing flow, and assisting with documentation.
Identify and assess children with SAM/MAM using MUAC, weight-for-height, and clinical signs
Provide emergency interventions including CPR, recovery positioning, airway management, and notify the medical manager immediately.
Monitor patients on IV therapy, ensuring correct flow rates, site integrity, and signs of fluid
Equipment Handling: Operate specialized equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, CPAP/BIPAP, infusion pumps, ventilators) as per need.
2. Patient Care & Health education
Ensure hygiene and comfort of bed-ridden patients.
Assist with feeding, repositioning, and patient safety.
Monitor intake and report health changes.
Carry out delegated nursing care (e.g., damping down, changing urine collectors, parachecks
Conduct health education sessions sessions based on patient needs.
Support infection-related reporting (EPI, COVID-19).
Promptly refer any abnormal changes in patient condition to the nurse supervisor.
3. Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
Follow hand hygiene and PPE protocols.
Safely dispose of medical waste and prepare disinfectants.
Preparing disinfectant solutions following doses, dilution and usage conditions
Cleaning and decontaminating used instruments according to the protocol in use
Cleaning and disinfecting patient areas ,instruments and equipment
Promote IPC awareness among patients and attendants.
Perform autoclaving of medical instruments and materials following standard sterilization procedures
Maintain autoclave equipment and ensure proper documentation of sterilization cycles.
4. Medication Administration
Administer oral, topical, and injectable medications.
Monitor treatment responses and educate patients.
Record vitals signs and medication checklist and registers details
5. Referral & Coordination Support
Prepare referral documents and assist in patient transfers.
Ensuring the transfer and transport of patients between the different services and departments
Coordinate with external facilities.
Transport lab samples and support dispensary tracking and ensure proper record keeping
6. EMR & Documentation
Maintain timely, accurate entries in EMR and paper-based documentation systems.
Record all interventions, observations, and patient status changes clearly and consistently.
Verify data accuracy and uphold confidentiality and data protection standards.
Prepare detailed transfer summaries and accompany critical patient referrals when necessary.
Notify supervisors of any data discrepancies.
5. Teamwork & Communication
Actively participate in ward rounds regular departmental briefings and updates, and multidisciplinary meetings, contributing nursing insights.
Provide structured shift handovers, highlighting key events, prescription updates, and patient follow-ups.
Communicate effectively with patients and families in Bengali, English, and Rohingya as per needed.
Collaborate with doctors , medical assistant, nurses midwives and other staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
Support team members during high-pressure situations.
6. Training & Capacity Building
Train supporting staffs on infection control, patient safety, and basic care.
Demonstrate proper techniques for daily support, positioning, and mobility.
7. Inventory & Resource Management
Perform shift-change inventory checks of medications, equipment, and consumables.
Monitor daily consumption and submit timely restock requests (SIR).
Ensure all reusable medical equipment is sterilized appropriately.
Report equipment failures, supply shortages, or overstock situations to the supervisor.
8. Specialized BEmONC Responsibilities (when applicable)
Assist midwives during normal deliveries under the supervision of a doctor.
Support emergency obstetric procedures and provide postpartum care if needed.
Monitor maternal and fetal status during labor following established protocols.
Educate and assist mothers with breastfeeding and address common issues.
