Job Responsibilities & Context

Position Summary:

The Medical Technologist (X-Ray) is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures accurately and safely to support patient care. The role includes operating radiology equipment, ensuring radiation safety, maintaining image quality, and complying with standard protocols to ensure effective diagnosis and coordination with clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Radiology Procedures & Imaging

• Perform X-ray imaging procedures as per physician’s request

• Ensure proper patient positioning and image quality

• Assist in special imaging procedures when required

• Prepare patients for radiological examinations

2. Patient Safety & Radiation Protection

• Follow radiation protection principles

• Use protective equipment (lead apron, shields, etc.)

• Ensure patient safety during all procedures

• Maintain proper identification and consent process

3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Operate X-ray machines and related equipment

• Perform routine checks and basic troubleshooting

• Report equipment faults or malfunctions promptly

• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment

4. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain imaging records and registers

• Label and store images properly (digital/manual)

• Ensure timely submission of images to physicians

• Maintain confidentiality of patient information

5. Infection Prevention & Safety

• Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols

• Maintain cleanliness of radiology unit

• Ensure safe disposal of waste materials

6. Stock & Inventory Management

• Monitor radiology supplies (films, contrast, PPE, etc.)

• Maintain stock records and storage conditions

• Report shortages and expiry issues

7. Patient Care & Communication

• Communicate procedures clearly to patients

• Ensure patient comfort and dignity

• Handle patients with professionalism and empathy

8. Teamwork & Coordination

• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments

• Participate in training and knowledge sharing

• Ensure proper shift handover

9. Additional Duties

• Assist in emergency imaging services

• Perform any other task assigned by management

• Willingness to work in shift duty (day/night roster)
