Position Summary:

The Medical Technologist (Laboratory) is responsible for conducting accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care. The role includes specimen processing, laboratory analysis, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety and standard protocols, ensuring reliable results and effective coordination with clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Laboratory Testing & Procedures

• Perform laboratory tests including:Hematology, Biochemistry, Serology, Microbiology RDT, Microscopy, POC testing

• Collect samples (blood, urine, swab, etc.) maintaining patient safety

• Operate laboratory equipment (centrifuge, analyzers, etc.)

• Conduct quality control tests (IQC, EQC – daily, weekly, monthly

2. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare and verify test reports accurately

• Maintain laboratory registers, reports, and patient records

• Ensure confidentiality of patient data

• Provide timely reports to physicians

3. Equipment & Lab Management

• Maintain laboratory equipment (cleaning & minor troubleshooting)

• Report malfunction or damage to authority

• Ensure proper sterilization and hygiene practices

• Follow biomedical waste management protocols

4. Stock & Inventory Management

• Monitor stock of reagents, kits, and consumables

• Maintain inventory and ensure proper storage conditions

• Report shortages or expiry issues timely

5. Infection Prevention & Safety

• Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines

• Use PPE properly to prevent contamination

• Ensure safe disposal of laboratory waste

6. Patient Care & Communication

• Collect samples with professionalism and empathy

• Address patient concerns politely

• Maintain good coordination with doctors and nursing staff

7. Teamwork & Coordination

• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and lab team

• Participate in training and knowledge sharing

• Ensure proper duty handover

8. Additional Duties

• Participate in blood bank activities (if applicable)

• Perform any other task assigned by management

• Willingness to work in shift duty (day/night roster)
