Responsibilities & Context:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Technologist (Laboratory) to perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations while ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely reporting of test results. The successful candidate will support clinicians in patient diagnosis, treatment, and disease monitoring by maintaining high professional and ethical standards in laboratory services.
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in Clinical Pathology, Hematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Serology, and Blood Bank as assigned.
Collect, receive, process, label, and preserve patient specimens following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers.
Ensure accurate documentation, verification, and timely reporting of laboratory results.
Perform internal quality control (IQC) and participate in external quality assurance (EQA) programs.
Maintain laboratory records, registers, inventory, and documentation as required.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of biological specimens and hazardous waste in accordance with biosafety guidelines.
Monitor reagent stock levels and coordinate procurement to prevent shortages.
Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) measures and laboratory safety protocols.
Assist pathologists and laboratory physicians in specialized investigations when required.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory records.
Participate in laboratory accreditation, audits, quality improvement activities, and continuing professional development.
Provide support during emergency laboratory services and perform other duties assigned by the laboratory management.
Diploma in Medical Technology (Laboratory) or Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (BSc MLT) from a recognized institution.
Registration with the relevant regulatory authority (where applicable).
Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
Fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds may also apply.
Sound knowledge of laboratory procedures and quality assurance.
Ability to operate automated laboratory analyzers and equipment.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) will be an advantage.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Willingness to work in rotating shifts, weekends, and emergency duties.
