  • BM&DC Registration certificate is essential.

  • Experience as Medical Officer/Duty Doctor in any clinic/hospital.

  • Knowledge on ultrasound and related image testing and report writing would be an added advantage.

  • Expertise in thorough diagnosis and analysis technique.

  • Familiarity with medical transcription.

  • Must have ability to identify the complex health issues and able to prescribe the treatment.

  • Must have strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to be an effective and credible voice internally and externally when presenting findings.

  • Solution driven, smart, approachable and possesses ability to work with people from different backgrounds.

  • Excellent working knowledge of computer applications like MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).

  • Proficiency in both Bangla and English Language.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with people at various levels.

  • Good teamwork skills with the ability to work with different and sometime conflicting agendas.

  • Good organisation, coordination and project management skills.

  • IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to work in and with a diverse team.

  • Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.

  • Good Listening Skill.

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Time management skill



Responsibilities & Context:

Key Accountabilities:

I. Primary Care service

  • Urgent medical and nursing services (including resuscitation, stabilization and assessment and diagnosis, treatment and referral as necessary);

  • Assess the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination and investigation.

  • Recommending and, where appropriate, undertaking treatment options and carrying out/referring for appropriate interventions and procedures, including but not limited to prescribing, minor surgery and other general practice procedures, counselling, psychological interventions, advising and education.

  • Referral for diagnostic, therapeutic and support services as required.

II. Maintaining Health Service

  • Ongoing health and development assessment and advice.

  • Appropriate evidence based screening, risk assessment and early detection of illness, disease and disability.

  • Use of recall and reminder systems and referral, as appropriate, to national screening programmes.

  • Interventions to assist people to reduce or change risky and harmful lifestyle behaviour.

  • Family planning services, provision of contraceptive advice and sexual health services.

  • Ensure Immunisation programmes are available to the practice population.

  • Working with public health providers in the prevention and control of communicable diseases for individuals and families and reporting to relevant public health providers.

  • Ongoing care and support for people with chronic and terminal conditions to reduce deterioration, increase independence and reduce suffering linking, where relevant, with appropriate service providers.

III. Co-ordinating Care

  • In particular –

  • Co-ordinating an individual’s rehabilitation process and participating where appropriate in providing recovery orientated services to restore normal functioning;

  • Developing collaborative working relationships with community health services and non-Government public health providers and relevant non-health agencies to help to address intersectoral issues affecting the health of their enrolled populations;

  • Establishing links with a range of primary and secondary health care providers and developing initiatives to enable patient centric, co-ordinated care that meets the needs of individuals and their family.

 

IV. Improving Health

  • Improve patient health through –

  • Health promotion to the practices’ enrolled population, linking to public health programmes at a national, regional and local level and utilizing such programmes to target specific populations.

  • Health education, counselling and information provision about how to improve health and prevent disease and interventions or treatments that treat risk factors.

 

V. Financial

  • Ensure all patient services undertaken are charged out in accordance with appropriate protocols.

  • Assist with provision of information for practice reporting requirements, as requested.

 

VI. Communication

  • Professional liaison with other health professionals is maintained.

  • All staff are informed, as appropriate, about anything that they should be aware of regarding a patient, or regarding the internal workings of the practice.

  • Staff and team meetings are attended as requested.

  • All staff problems or issues are referred to the hospital manager in the first instance.

 

VII. Quality and Compliance

  • All patient consultations must be accurately recorded in the clinical patient notes within 24 hours of seeing the patient.

  • Participation in clinical audit as required or other clinical or administrative indication.

  • Participate in the significant event management process in place in the practice.

  • Participate in practice accreditation or other quality improvement systems.

  • All complaints to be referred to the Hospital Manager in the first instance. If unresolved then you are expected to co-operate with other resolution methods including with the Muslim Aid policy and procedures.

  • Total confidentiality and privacy of patients must be maintained.

VIII. Health & Safety

  • Comply with established health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, storage of drugs and disposal of sharp and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances. Comply with current Medical Waste Regulation law of Bangladesh.

 

IX. Other duties

  • Hours of work are set out in the Employment Agreement, however there may be times when you are required to undertake other duties outside of these hours as requested. This may involve attendance at meetings, staff meetings or training sessions or to attend emergency patients.
