Job Responsibilities:
∎ Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
∎ Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
∎ Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits , consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments - in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient's evolution.
∎ Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
∎ Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
∎ Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
∎ Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
∎ Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.
∎ Assist with triaging patients in the waiting area according to the triage protocol in order to attend sever cases on priority.
∎ Collaboration with nursing department and identification of gaps and training possibilities
∎ Adequate decision-making and management of the medical team during emergencies.
∎ To communicate, collaborate and keep record directly with other departments when needed/requested (SRH, MH, OPD).
∎ To check Expanded Programme of Immunization(EPI) status of eligible patients and communicate to patient/care-giver and encourage attendance.
∎ Ensure quality care for patients in the emergency room, observation room and isolation ward.
∎ Correct and timely identification of patients that need referral to secondary health care facilities.
∎ Collaboration and coaching Medical Assistants with referral procedures.
∎ Coordinate with the receiving structure and lead rapid referral in case of emergency
∎ To ensure a proper follow-up of referred patients. Collaboration with Contact Tracers, direct communication with the receiving facility or contact with the medical doctor on call.
∎ To make sure that records of all consultations, findings, diagnosis, treatment plan and epidemiological data are delivered and recorded.
∎ Review case report form for reportable diseases (EWARS)
∎ To comply with clinic data collection tools and protocols
∎ To participate in medical meetings regarding patient care and clinic activities.
∎ To participate in medical activities evaluation, including audits and reports as per requirement
∎ To consult the national staff in case of sickness during the working hours and to decide, in collaboration with the medical staff health responsible in the project.
∎ To assist as per request in continous medical education and training.
∎ To support in basic management of the project clinic medical activities (pharmacy/inventory, statistics/data-collection, & vaccination activity).
∎ On request willing to support any project medical activities, gapfill and emergencies.
∎ On request, be the spokesperson for the rest of the staff in case of security incident (absence of expats) and inform to hierarchy.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 26 years
∎ - 2 year experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work. Desirable experience in in Public Health , obs and gynae, paediatrics, A, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine or minor surgery.
∎ Working experience with MSF or related NGO considered a strong asset
∎ - Language: English and Bangla language essential, Chittagong dialect proficiency a strong asset.
∎ - Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
∎ - Competencies: People management, Commitment, Flexibility, Result oriented, Team work
