Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Install and set up sewing machines on the production line as per garment specifications.
∎ Adjust machine placement and layout to ensure an efficient flow on the production floor, aligning with the sample requirements of different garment styles.
∎ Workclosely with production teams to set up machines according to fabric type, stitching pattern, and production line layout.
∎ Perform regular mechanical maintenance, ensuring all mechanical components are in top condition.
∎ Cleanand lubricate moving parts, including gears, shafts, and needle bars, to ensure smooth and reliable machine performance.
∎ Monitor and maintain parts like bobbin cases, tension discs, and presser feet to ensure precise stitching.
∎ Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, including parts such as shafts, gears, and sewing hooks.
∎ Replace worn-out mechanical components like needles, belts, gears, and presser feet to maintain machine functionality.
∎ Repair or adjust thread tensioners, feed dogs, and stitch regulators to ensure high-quality stitching and minimize defects.
∎ Calibrate mechanical components of sewing machines, such as stitch length, tension, and foot pressure, to suit different fabric types and garment designs.
∎ Regularly inspect and adjust presser feet, needle heights, and feed mechanisms to ensure machines produce accurate and consistent stitching based on garment samples.
∎ Collaborate with the production team to adjust machine settings for special fabric handling or complex sewing patterns.
∎ Work with production management to adjust the line layout of sewing machines according to garment production samples and styles.
∎ Ensure that machines are positioned in a way that maximizes efficiency, reduces worker fatigue, and enhances the workflow.
∎ Reorganize and set up the production line when garment styles or fabric types change, ensuring the line layout supports the most effective production process.
∎ Assist machine operators with mechanical adjustments and provide training on handling minor mechanical issues.
∎ Maintain a well-organized inventory of spare mechanical parts, including needles, belts, gears, presser feet, and bobbin cases.
∎ Ensure that necessary mechanical parts are available for timely repairs and replacements, coordinating with the procurement department when required.
∎ Keep accurate records of all mechanical maintenance, repairs, and adjustments performed on the machines.
∎ Report recurring mechanical issues or major repair requirements to the maintenance supervisor for further action.
∎ Work closely with the production and quality control teams to ensure that machines are properly set up and functioning in line with garment specifications.
