Job Responsibilities:
∎ Core Responsibilities:
∎ Provide strategic guidance and lead analysis of market system constraints and root causes of market failure in nutrition, food, empowerment, water, sanitation, and hygiene sectors with contribution from technical experts; identify addressable opportunities to foster systemic change.
∎ Facilitate collective action for systemic change by key market actors; design strategic partnerships, including grants, with public and private sector entities to foster systemic change by addressing identified market system constraints sustainably and impactfully; integrate requirements of technical experts in the three result areas into design of partnerships; maximize opportunities for multi-sectoral impact from partnerships.
∎ Create a robust pipeline of grants and partnerships in all three result areas in accordance with the Activity's scale-up plans, by: communicating effectively with private sector and public sector, engage in evidence-based dialogue with different market players; establishing contact with and presenting a business case to potential partner; brainstorming innovative and sustainable solutions with the Activity's technical team and potential partners; facilitating potential partners in translating ideas into concept notes and proposals.
∎ Support the DCOP in providing thought leadership on market systems approach, sharing the approach with stakeholders including USAID, national and sub-national government and other stakeholders; contribute to development of knowledge assets that inspire behavior change of key market players and create a learning culture for the project team; build the capacity of the project team members on the specificity of the MSD approach and use of MSD/ adaptive management systems.
∎ With support from the Market Systems Coordinator and other team members, ensure grant proposals have a clearly articulated vision, objectives, strategy, implementation plan, milestones, success metrics / monitoring plan, and sustainability plan; lead cost negotiations to ensure cost-reasonableness and efficiency.
∎ Serve as the primary point of contact for the home office grants management unit (GMU); ensure the grants package submitted to GMU is complete and meets quality standards.
∎ Jointly with technical experts in the BNA team and the MEL team, review existing grants and partnerships and identify opportunities to adapt and learn, expand impact, design new intervention areas and/or increase sustainability, update BNA's market systems strategy.
∎ Work with the COP and DCOP to identify areas of collaboration and coordination with other USAID projects.
∎ Review the Activity's overall workplan from a market systems lens; ensure that interventions articulate a pathway to achieving systemic change; work with the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning team to track, adjust, and report the Activity's progress in achieving systemic change for all its interventions, including grants and partnerships.
∎ Coordinate with the Finance and Administration team for carrying out due diligence and compliance checks of potential partners.
∎ Develop and manage a partnerships workplan and budget.
∎ Contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports and workplans.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Bachelor's Degree + 12 years of relevant experience, Master's Degree + 10 years of relevant experience or Ph.D. + 8 years of relevant experience
∎ Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in private sector engagement in at least one of the Activity's technical areas, i.e., Nutrition, agriculture, and food systems; empowerment of women and adolescents; and WASH.
∎ Demonstrated experience in MSD approach to assessing markets, and in designing and implementing market systems interventions.
∎ Good understanding of rural markets, and the role of the private and public sector in effective product or service delivery.
∎ Experience in designing and implementing grants and sub-awards with similar scopes of work.
∎ Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and experience in managing teams.
∎ Advanced degree in relevant field.
