Job Context:
∎ Based in Dhaka Project Office and Reports to the Technical Director, Esho Shikhi project)
∎ Position Overview:
∎ The Manager - Training is part of USAID`s Esho Shikhi Project (Esho Shikhi) that is aiming to increase access and improve the learning outcomes of marginalized Bangladeshi children in marginalized and vulnerable communities. The position will be responsible for leading the development process of the modules and training materials for the teachers, master trainers and govt officials. This is to ensure that the contents of the modules are effective and adhere to the national curriculum and developed teaching-learning materials for the Esho Shikhi project. S/he will also be responsible for delivering orientation guidelines for any digital contents/materials developed as a part of the project.
∎ This position will be based in the Esho Shikhi Project Office, Dhaka. S/he will report to the Technical Director of the Esho Shikhi project and will work closely with the Literacy Team of Room to Read Bangladesh.
∎ This position will require frequent travel to project sites, as well as regular interaction with education officials, partners, Head-Teachers and teachers.
∎ The position is contingent upon donor approval.
∎ The appointment will be made initially for 2 years with possibility of extension based on fund availability.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Lead the overall training and professional development plan for Esho Shikhi project and ensure the implementation of planned training and professional development initiatives
∎ Lead the designing process and facilitate the orientation sessions, workshops and trainings for the Core trainers, Master trainers, head-teachers and Govt Officials on Improved Bangla reading Instructions and classroom observation process,
∎ Coordinate with the DPE manual development team for development of the Master trainer training module and teacher training module on improved Bangla reading instruction
∎ Lead the designing of training modules, content and materials for teachers and principals, as well as building the capacity of ESA/partner staff to conduct the trainings
∎ Oversee timely delivery of the trainings and professional development plan according to the approved plan,
∎ Lead the orientation process on developed digital contents to support remote/online learning through community hubs, social media, radio/TV, SMS/IVR push
∎ Collaborate with Training team, MERLA team, operation team to enhance the effectiveness of the training design and implementation quality; develop evidence of success.
∎ Take steps to improve quality of training inputs and ensure fidelity of the Esho Shikhi training modules.
∎ Visits program sites to assess effectiveness of training design and implementation quality, as well as other purposes
∎ Represent Esho Shikhi project by attending and speaking at relevant forums and advocates for the importance of programs' work.
∎ Liaise with other NGOs running similar programs to identify areas of knowledge sharing and possible collaboration.
∎ Participate in any other activities which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of Esho Shikhi project.
Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 10 years of work experience of which at least 5 have been in a management capacity.
∎ Sufficient technical knowledge of core education agendas, in particular: Teacher and govt official's continuous professional development plan, PEDP4 and primary education structure.
∎ Experience in the entire spectrum of activities under program management. This includes program planning and design, implementation and monitoring & evaluation, capacity building and reporting. Experienced in tracking implementation schedules and supporting effective utilization of budget.
∎ A proven ability to establish effective working relationships and partnerships with diverse stakeholders specially government, partner NGOs, and donors.
∎ Strong financial management and team management skills including the ability to supervise multidisciplinary professionals and motivate staff effectively.
∎ Excellent communication skills (oral and written in both English and Bangla) and capability to represent the organization in professional forums.
∎ Preferred:
∎ Experience in teaching at the primary school
∎ Prior experience in printing and publishing field
∎ Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
∎ Prior experience of working in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
∎ Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
∎ Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative
