Educational Requirements:
∎ Master degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or relevant, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates having a PhD degree would get preference.

Job Context:

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Design and implement the study of water supply system and/or fecal sludge management and/or environmental sanitation in different scale.
∎ Develop/help develop analytical and other tools of monitoring of performance of water supply and sanitation services utilities
∎ Provide technical inputs in assessing water supply schemes and distribution systems
∎ Develop professional design, drawing, BoQs, guidelines, implementation strategies related to water supply and sanitation technologies as and when required.
∎ To conduct technical assessment and feasibility survey related to WaSH
∎ Stay abreast of what is currently going on in the field of WaSH by reading papers, journals, or books
∎ Preparing research proposals and searching for opportunities of international research grants
∎ Preparing and submitting grant applications and administering awarded grants
∎ Designing experiments and developing research protocols
∎ Developing indicators and preparing different study tools for collecting primary and secondary data
∎ Using digital platform (e.g., KoboCollect, ODK) for preparing advanced forms for different data collection
∎ Represent DM WATCH in a professional capacity as we collaborate with Government high officials, development partners, city, professionals as well as local government and the general public.
∎ Supervise and coordinate the works of WaSH and collaborating with colleagues in multidisciplinary research projects
∎ Training and supervising the mobility of enumerators
∎ Transcribing and/or cleaning data for analysis, analyzing data and writing report
∎ Attending and arranging events such as conference and seminar
∎ Publishing review and original papers in scientific peer reviewed journals

Additional Requirements:
∎ The candidate must have solid understanding of WaSH policies, strategies, institutions, and regulations. In addition, s/he should have the ability to design, implement, monitor, and assess technical issues in the WaSH sector. Experience of the candidate in connecting analysis to policy advice on WaSH issues is desirable. Strong familiarity with Auto CAD system or other computer-aided design software is mandatory. Besides, the candidate should possess the experience of conducting activities related to research independently in the field of WaSH (especially WatSan). Activities include, but are not limited to, defining research problem, reviewing of literature, formulating hypotheses, preparing research design, conducting experiments, collecting, wrangling, and analyzing data, interpreting findings and writing report, publishing, and disseminating results.
∎ Be strong in oral and written skills in English and the demonstrated ability to produce high quality analytical reports.
∎ Experience in the sector highlighting water supply and sewerage engineering
∎ Have a firm willingness to continue the career in the field of research and consultancy
∎ Have advanced knowledge of research methodology and statistics
∎ Be making high-quality graphics, diagrams, maps, sketches and/or renderings. Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite programs, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
∎ Have high degree of problem sensitivity and the flexibility to respond quickly
∎ Have proven record of science writing (publication in peer reviewed journals are preferable)
∎ Have the willingness to work under academic challenge
∎ Be humble and open to criticism
∎ Be always prepared to step out of the comfort zone by learning about new ideas and exploring novel and difficult topics
∎ Have good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
∎ Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bangla (if Bangladeshi) and English
∎ Have good organizational and administrative skills
∎ Be a critical thinker, numerate, curious, independent, exited to learn, flexible, creative, professional, a passionate reader, a dynamic worker, organized and collaborative, and comfortable with new tech.
∎ Have strong attention to detail, the ability to problem solving, the capacity to lead a team, and the practice of critical analysis
