  • At least 4 years of experience in a managerial position within merchandising / marketing in the apparel manufacturing industry.

  • Proven experience handling a US $40–50 million business across multiple customers and departments.

  • Minimum experience handling a premium / luxury brand account.

  • Strong track record managing sweater categories (cotton, wool, blends, intarsia) and complex developments.

  • Experience working with multi-country manufacturing platforms.

  • Strong command of critical path management and commercial negotiation.

  • Experience in PLM (Centric or equivalent) and ERP-based workflow tracking.

  • Proven success in customer relationship management and cross-functional leadership.

  • Strong understanding of premium brand aesthetics, product integrity, and quality requirements.

  • Highly analytical with strong commercial judgment.

  • Strong knowledge of knitwear or apparel product development, costing, critical path, capacity planning, order management, quality and manufacturing processes.

  • Commercial and financial acumen, including revenue, margin, contribution, claims and account profitability.    

  • Advanced analytical capability and confident use of ERP, PLM, business-intelligence, collaboration and approved AI-assistance tools.

  • Excellent customer communication, negotiation, influencing, presentation and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead across functions, cultures, countries and time zones.

  • High integrity, sound judgement and disciplined handling of confidential customer and company information.



Responsibilities & Context:
  • Develop and execute short-, medium- and long-term customer and product growth strategies aligned with company objectives.

  • Build effective relationships across the customer organization, including Buying, Design, Product Development, Technical, Sustainability and Supply Chain.

  • Prepare annual customer business plans covering revenue, profitability, product categories, market opportunities, risks and growth initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities for new products, categories, origins and value-added services to increase customer penetration and retention.

  • Lead seasonal business reviews and use market intelligence and competitor analysis to shape customer strategy.

  • Own customer-level revenue, gross margin, contribution and account profitability.

  • Lead FOB, costing, margin and service negotiations within approved authority levels and escalation protocols.

  • Ensure costing accuracy and protect margin from development through order confirmation and bulk execution.

  • Drive value engineering, cost optimization and price realization without compromising product intent, quality or compliance.

  • Govern debit notes, claims, disputes and recovery actions, including timely root-cause analysis and corrective action.

  • Support customer forecasting, budgeting and financial performance reviews.

  • Act as the primary escalation point for customer service, delivery, quality and commercial matters.

  • Establish structured account governance through customer scorecards, regular business reviews, opportunity pipelines and risk reviews.

  • Ensure proactive, accurate and timely communication across all customer touchpoints.

  • Lead resolution of customer complaints and recurring failures through formal RCA, CAPA and effectiveness verification.

  • Coordinate executive-level customer engagement and protect long-term customer confidence.

  • Lead seasonal development strategies aligned with customer handwriting, commercial objectives and factory capability.

  • Translate customer concepts into commercially viable, manufacturable and right-first-time products.

  • Apply sound working knowledge of yarn, gauge, knit structure, garment construction, consumption, washing, finishing, embellishment, testing and production feasibility.

  • Challenge product cost, quality, lead time and manufacturability risks early and secure cross-functional decisions.

  • Drive co-creation, innovation, range development and speed-to-market with Design, Product Development, Technical and Supply Chain.

  • Own the end-to-end customer critical path from seasonal brief and development through approvals, material readiness, production handover and shipment.

  • Establish milestone governance and ensure disciplined maintenance of Time and Action plans.

  • Identify risks early, establish recovery plans, assign accountability and escalate deviations at the appropriate level.

  • Ensure accurate and complete handover from development to bulk production.

  • Lead cross-functional reviews to protect delivery, quality and commercial outcomes.

  • Convert customer forecasts and opportunity pipelines into reliable demand and capacity requirements.

  • Partner with Planning and Operations on order acceptance and allocation based on capacity, product complexity, gauge, material readiness, margin, lead time and factory capability.

  • Optimize customer and product mix across peak and off-peak periods.

  • Monitor projection-to-order conversion and take corrective action where capacity or revenue coverage is at risk.

  • Continuously review Marketing & Merchandising workflows to eliminate non-value-added activity, duplication, manual handoffs and avoidable rework.

  • Optimize man-hours and improve output per person through lean process redesign, standard work, automation, digitization and workload balancing.

  • Lead disciplined adoption of ERP, PLM, critical-path and business-intelligence platforms, ensuring complete, accurate and timely customer, product, costing and order data.

  • Use approved modern AI assistance to support activities such as data consolidation, first-draft reporting, trend identification, meeting and action summaries, risk flagging and routine communication, subject to company information-security, confidentiality, customer and responsible-use requirements.

  • Ensure AI-assisted outputs are reviewed by accountable employees before use in any customer, commercial, technical or operational decision. Human ownership and approval remain mandatory.

  • Develop standard dashboards that provide a single source of truth for business performance, risks, actions and decisions.

  • Measure productivity benefits and reinvest released capacity into customer growth, analysis, innovation and proactive risk management.

  • Integrate corporate sustainability objectives and customer requirements into product and account strategies.

  • Promote low-impact materials, responsible sourcing and commercially viable sustainable product innovation.

  • Partner with Sustainability, Compliance, Sourcing and Technical teams to meet relevant customer and company commitments.

  • Ensure marketing and merchandising decisions comply with ethical, legal, customer and corporate requirements.

  • Lead, coach and develop high-performing Development and Bulk Merchandising teams.

  • Establish clear goals, decision rights, operating rhythms and individual accountability through the company performance management system.

  • Build commercial, technical, digital and analytical capability across the function.

  • Maintain succession plans and development pathways for critical roles.

  • Foster a culture of customer centricity, ownership, collaboration, integrity, innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Make account-level decisions within approved commercial, costing, capacity and customer-service authority limits.

  • Recommend order acceptance, customer allocation, recovery plans and commercial settlements based on fact-based risk and profitability analysis.

  • Escalate material deviations affecting margin, delivery, quality, compliance, customer confidence or capacity before commitments are made.

  • Approve routine customer communication and operational actions within established policies; obtain required authorization for exceptions.

  • Maintain clear accountability records for key decisions, commitments and follow-up actions.
