Responsibilities & Context:

This role is responsible for hands-on SAP development, solution architecture, and advanced analytics engineering within an SAP S/4HANA landscape, specifically tailored to fashion retail data models (style/color/size matrix, seasonal collections, SKU granularity). The position combines ABAP development leadership, HANA-native data modeling, and real-time analytics enablement.

Core Technical Responsibilities

1. SAP Application Development (ABAP & S/4HANA)

• Design and develop RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms).

• Advanced ABAP programming including:

  • Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP)

  • ALV (OO & SALV), Smart Forms, Adobe Forms

  • Enhancement Framework (BAdIs, User Exits, Implicit/Explicit)

• Develop ABAP for HANA optimized code:

  • Code push-down techniques

  • Use of AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures)

  • Performance tuning via SQL trace (ST05), SAT, SQL Monitor

• Build and expose OData services (SAP Gateway) for Fiori/UI5 applications.

2. SAP HANA Data Modeling & Embedded Analytics

• Design and implement CDS Views:

  • Basic, Composite, and Consumption views

  • Usage of annotations for UI, analytics, and OData exposure

• Develop HANA Calculation Views (Graphical & SQL Script-based)

• Implement real-time embedded analytics in S/4HANA:

  • KPI models

  • Analytical queries (CUBE, DIMENSION views)

• Build virtual data models (VDM) aligned with fashion business entities.

3. Fashion-Specific Data Engineering

• Model complex retail structures:

  • Article hierarchy (Style → Color → Size)

  • Seasonal collections, assortments, variants, and grids

• Optimize handling of:

  • High-volume transactional datasets

  • Stock segmentation and inventory valuation

• Build data structures for:

  • Sell-through rate, GMROI, stock aging, size curve analysis

• Implement time-series analytical logic for seasonality and trend analysis.

4. Integration & Interfaces

• Develop and manage interfaces using:

  • IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs

  • REST/SOAP APIs via SAP Gateway

• Integrate SAP with:

  • POS systems

  • Industrial applications

• Work with middleware:

  • SAP CPI / PI/PO (preferred)

• Handle data ingestion pipelines for near-real-time analytics.

5. SAP Analytics & Reporting Stack

• Develop enterprise reporting using:

  • SAP BW/4HANA (Data Sources, ADSOs, Composite Providers)

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) dashboards

• Build semantic layers and metrics:

  • KPIs for merchandising, retail performance, and supply chain

• Enable:

  • Self-service analytics models

  • Live connections to S/4HANA / BW

• Optimize query performance for large datasets.

6. Performance Optimization & System Stability

• Conduct:

  • Runtime analysis (SAT)

  • SQL tracing, Memory and buffer monitoring

• Implement:

  • Code optimization strategies

  • Efficient indexing and partitioning in HANA

• Ensure scalability for:

  • High-volume retail transaction loads

7. Architecture & DevOps Practices

• Define SAP development standards and transport strategies:

  • CTS / ChaRM workflows

• Support CI/CD pipelines where applicable

• Govern code quality using:

  • ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit)

  • Code Inspector

8. Security & Data Governance

• Implement:

  • Role-based access (PFCG)

  • Authorization objects for analytics and reporting

• Ensure compliance for:

  • Data privacy (PII in customer analytics)

• Maintain data consistency across master/transactional layers

9. Technical Leadership

• Lead a development team with code reviews, design validations, and architecture governance

• Define technical roadmaps for:

  • S/4HANA migration

  • Embedded analytics adoption

• Resolve complex production issues (L3/L4 support)
