About the Project

We are building federated dataspaces inspired by initiatives such as Catena-X, Eclipse Tractus-X, and Gaia-X. Dataspaces will enable secure, standards-compliant, and sovereign data exchange across industrial and regulated ecosystems. Our infrastructure is designed to be provider-agnostic, supporting deployment across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and DigitalOcean. We aim to abstract the complexity of dataspace participation and deliver a seamless experience to data providers and consumers.

This is not limited to connector development. The scope includes the full architecture of the dataspace:

● Identity and trust management (DID, DAPS, OAuth2)

● Semantic metadata modelling and knowledge graphs

● Policy-based access control and contract negotiation

● Federated service discovery and data catalogues

● Data governance, auditability, and lifecycle management

You will be part of a cross-functional team contributing to an ambitious and highly impactful infrastructure platform from the ground up.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Mid-Level Business Analyst to act as a bridge between our stakeholders, our product owners, and our engineering team. You will gather requirements, translate them into clear and well-formed stories, support the team during planning ceremonies, and gradually take ownership of small workstreams under the mentorship of senior colleagues.

This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys understanding why a piece of software needs to exist, not only what it does. You will be coached on the technical domain - you are not expected to arrive as an expert in federated data exchange - but you are expected to arrive as someone who can read, listen, summarise, and write with precision.

Responsibilities

● Gather requirements from stakeholders through interviews, workshops, and written exchanges; document them in clear, unambiguous language.

● Write user stories with well-formed acceptance criteria; collaborate with developers and QA to ensure stories are testable.

● Maintain the team's backlog in Jira: grooming, prioritising, linking dependencies, keeping epics and stories up to date.

● Support and gradually facilitate Agile ceremonies - sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

● Produce supporting artefacts as required: process flows, user journey maps, requirement specifications, and decision logs.

● Liaise between business stakeholders and the engineering team; surface risks, ambiguities, and trade-offs early.

● Use AI tools efficiently - for research, summarisation, drafting requirements, generating first-pass diagrams - while taking full responsibility for the accuracy and quality of any artefact you sign off on.

● Continuously deepen your understanding of the platform, the domain, and Agile practice.

Required Qualifications

● A bachelor's degree from a recognised university, ideally in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

1-2 years of working experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Junior Product Manager, Requirements Engineer, or in a similar role.

● Hands-on, day-to-day experience using Jira - creating and managing stories, epics, sprints, and boards.

● Practical familiarity with Agile / Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives.

● Strong written and spoken English - clarity is the single most important communication skill in this role.

● Ability to listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and synthesise long conversations into short, useful summaries.

● Sensible, efficient use of AI tools - you can write a good prompt, evaluate the response critically, and use AI to accelerate your work without compromising quality.

● Comfort working with engineering teams; ability to discuss technical concepts at a high level (APIs, authentication, data flow) even if you do not write code.

Nice to Have

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.

Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).

● Experience working in a software company or technology-led organisation.

● Familiarity with BPMN, UML, user story mapping, or other formal modelling techniques.

● Exposure to regulated or enterprise software domains (data governance, identity, B2B integration).

● A computer science/engineering background, or self-taught technical literacy sufficient to read API documentation.

● Familiarity with Confluence or a comparable knowledge-management tool.
