Job Context:
∎ Job Title: Manager, Emergency Response
∎ Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer and Programme Coordinator
∎ Job Location: Sylhet and Sunamganj
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Conduct surveys to determine the types of emergency-related needs that will need to be addressed in disaster planning, or provide technical support to others conducting such surveys.
∎ Keep informed of global and local regulations affecting emergency plans, and ensure that plans adhere to these regulations.
∎ Collaborate and coordinate with relevant stakeholders and other officials in order to prepare and analyse damage assessments/ need assessment following disasters or emergencies.
∎ Provide technical support to emergency response team, and Upazila Disaster Management Team (UDMT) for 1st line response and subsequently the recovery projects with attention to programme quality and ensure programme activities/ indicator are achieved within timeline.
∎ Prepare district level contingency plan and risk mapping regarding humanitarian aspect.
∎ Provide technical assistance to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) team to mainstreaming DRR.
∎ Collaboration with Need Assessment Secretariat and other relevant stakeholders in order to ensure a coordinated need assessment process in the aftermath of a disaster.
∎ Ensure early warning and weather updates and circulate it through different communication channel (i.e.: community radio, email, SMS etc.).
∎ Assist to design preparedness plan and activities for the organization align with IASC emergency preparedness plan.
∎ Represent GUSS in coordination platform including cluster as assigned by the authority
∎ Develop team capacity through field visit, meeting, discussion and individual contact, on the job training.
∎ Analyse response report and submit to supervisor for necessary measure.
∎ An ability to write clear and concise reports; Case stories in Bangla and English.
∎ Maintain gender-sensitive approach in all stages of programme implementation.
∎ Other duties & responsibilities as assigned by the management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Sound knowledge of National and International disaster management architecture, Core Humanitarian standard and principles, Coordination mechanism, Humanitarian reform, Humanitarian programme cycle, National and international statue relating to disaster management etc.
∎ Capable for planning and prioritizing under any stress situation.
∎ Excellent verbal communication and analytical skills.
∎ IT skills (Microsoft Office, social media); sound knowledge on Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design etc. is an advantage.
∎ Excellent skills in team building, problem solving and decision making.
∎ Demonstrated coordination skill and able to implement programme in a challenging work environment.
∎ Motorbike driving with valid license will get preference.
Salary: Tk. 60000 - 70000 (Monthly)

GUSS opened its office in Dhaka on February 2017 and expanded its work in Dhaka, Sylhet, Sunamgonj, Cox’s Bazar, Noakhali, Rajshahi, Bhola, Patuakhali, Rajbari, Barguna, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram to run its Emergency and Humanitarian programme, Inclusive Education, Maternal and Child Care, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene and Livelihood programmes to the mostly needy communities in Bangladesh. Over these years, it has implemented various development and relief activities in the country and this has remarkably changed the lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. GUSS developed a longer-term strategic partnership with Human Releif Foundation-UK, International Development and Relief Foundation Canada, Global Medic Canada, Muslim Aid USA, Human Care Initiative UK, Bangladesh Regeneration Trust – BRTUK to ensure its commitment to deliver the humanitarian and development programming to the farthest behind people in Bangladesh. GUSS works in collaboration and partnership with the Government of Bangladesh, Community Based Organizations, Development Partners, International Organizations, Civil Society Groups and UN Organizations focusing on Sustainable Development Goals.
