Job Context

Global Unnayan Seba Sangstha (GUSS) is committed to promoting mental health and well-being alongside physical healthcare. To strengthen our health post operations, we are seeking a qualified Psychologist who will provide counseling, psychosocial support, and awareness activities for individuals and communities.

This role is part-time (3 working days per week) and focused on outpatient and community-based services.

Job Responsibilities

Direct Counseling and Psychological Support

  • Provide confidential one-to-one counseling sessions to patients from Rohingya and host communities dealing with trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.

  • Conduct psychological assessments to understand client needs and develop personalized care plans.

  • Offer short-term therapy, coping strategies, and culturally adapted interventions suitable for crisis-affected populations.

  • Ensure proper referral for cases that require advanced medical or psychiatric support.

Group-Based Interventions

  • Facilitate group sessions on topics such as managing stress, family well-being, and positive coping mechanisms.

  • Conduct focused group discussions with women, adolescents, and vulnerable groups to encourage open dialogue on mental health.

  • Support peer group activities that foster resilience within both refugee and host communities.

Community Awareness and Outreach

  • Organize awareness sessions in camps and host villages to reduce stigma associated with mental health.

  • Share information on available mental health and psychosocial services at the health post.

  • Help develop easy-to-understand, culturally appropriate communication materials in Bangla and Rohingya dialects.

Team Collaboration and Support

  • Coordinate with medical staff, community health workers, and psychosocial counselors to deliver integrated health and mental health care.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions to ensure a holistic response for complex cases.

  • Provide guidance to staff on how to identify and respond to psychological distress.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Deliver short training sessions for frontline staff on psychological first aid (PFA) and stress management.

  • Mentor community health workers and volunteers in basic counseling approaches.

  • Strengthen local capacity to address mental health needs in both refugee and host communities.

Documentation, Monitoring, and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.

  • Document counseling sessions, case progress, and referral outcomes.

  • Submit regular reports on activities and challenges to supervisors, contributing to program learning.

Other Duties

  • Carry out any additional tasks assigned by management in line with organizational objectives.
