Responsibilities & Context:
The Sample & CAD Manager is responsible for managing the garment sample development and CAD operations from initial tech pack/design through final approval. The position ensures accurate patterns, efficient sample development, proper fit, timely submission, and coordination among buyers, merchandising, design, production, and technical teams.
Sample Development
- Manage the complete sample development process from development sample to PP sample.
- Plan and monitor sample schedules to meet buyer deadlines.
- Coordinate with Merchandising, Production, QA, and Technical teams.
- Review samples for measurements, construction, workmanship, and fitting.
- Ensure comments from buyers are properly incorporated into revised samples.
- Monitor sample room capacity, manpower, and productivity.
- Maintain sample records, approval status, and development history.
CAD & Pattern Development
- Manage CAD pattern-making and grading activities.
- Review patterns for accuracy, construction, measurements, and garment specifications.
- Ensure patterns are prepared according to buyer requirements and approved measurements.
- Supervise grading, marker making, and pattern corrections.
- Optimize marker efficiency and fabric utilization.
- Maintain proper CAD files, pattern versions, and backups.
- Ensure CAD operations follow approved technical standards.
Team Management
- Lead and supervise Pattern Makers, CAD Operators, Sample Coordinators, and Sample Technicians.
- Allocate work according to priority and delivery requirements.
- Train team members on pattern making, CAD systems, fitting, and technical procedures.
- Establish efficient working procedures and quality standards.
