Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

  • Additional training in Battery Manufacturing Technology (preferred).

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of SMF/VRLA manufacturing standards.

  • Strong understanding of welding processes (COS, Heat Seal, Ultrasonic).

  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled assembly machines.

  • Understanding of Lean tools, Root Cause Analysis, and PFMEA.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.

  • Analytical problem-solving and decision-making capability.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.



Responsibilities & Context:

A. Production Management

  • Plan, organize, and manage day-to-day assembly-line activities to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.

  • Monitor WIP (Work-In-Process) and ensure smooth workflow between pasting, formation, assembly, and finishing sections.

  • Ensure proper assembly of plates, separators, intercell connectors, terminal welding, and charging processes as per SMF technology standards.

  • Coordinate with Planning & SCM to ensure material availability (plates, separators, electrolyte, terminals, cases, lids, adhesives, etc.).

B. Quality Assurance

  • Implement and enforce QC standards for SMF battery assembly.

  • Conduct in-process quality checks—dimension, torque, welding quality, sealing, voltage, and leak tests.

  • Collaborate with QA team to reduce defects, rework, and warranty returns.

  • C. People & Team Management

  • Lead, supervise, and train assembly-line supervisors, operators, and technicians.

  • Prepare duty rosters, allocate manpower, and monitor operator skill levels.

  • Conduct performance reviews and recommend skill-development programs.

D. Process & Equipment Management

  • Ensure all assembly machinery (welding machines, lid-sealing equipment, vacuum leak testers, torque tools, etc.) are maintained in optimum condition.

  • Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive & breakdown maintenance.

  • Implement lean manufacturing practices—5S, Kaizen, line balancing, waste reduction.

E. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety protocols (PPE, chemical handling, electrical safety).

  • Monitor environmental compliance related to battery manufacturing (lead handling, emissions, waste management).

  • Ensure strict adherence to ISO, EMS, and other regulatory standards.

  • F. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports and downtime analysis.

  • Maintain documentation for SOPs, work instructions, process parameters, and training logs.

  • Support audits (internal, external, client audits).
