Professional fluency in English required utilizing software such as QuickBooks, and SharePoint to streamline and enhance organizational processes;
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite preferred;
Experience managing a team;
Ability to work well within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;
Bangladesh citizenship required;
Professional fluency in English required.
Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Local Governance Officer for the USAID funded Responsive Local Governance (RLG) Activity in Bangladesh. The goal of the Activity is catalyzing change within Bangladesh’s local governance system necessitates investment to strengthen Local Elected Government Institutions (LEGI) capacity, improve civil society and citizen participation in governance structures, and bolster multisectoral coordination for quality service delivery. The specific objective of this Activity is to develop LEGIs as an effective, responsive, inclusive, and accountable institution to address social issues and provide quality basic services to the most marginalized. This is a full-time position based in Rangpur. This position is only open to the citizens of Bangladesh.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide research, technical advice, and guidance on local governance matters, including reviewing and revising relevant regulatory frameworks.
Offer expert input and recommendations throughout the design and implementation of projects targeting Local Governance Entities and Institutions (LEGIs).
Monitor and track updates in local governance policies, regulations, and practices relevant to the project, and present key developments to DI staff and partners.
Prepare and submit regular progress reports with actionable insights and recommendations.
Contribute to the formulation and refinement of local governance strategies, initiatives, and activities.
Support the design, management, implementation, and monitoring of project components, ensuring alignment with objectives and timelines.
Provide other such similar or related services as DI may reasonably request.

This position reports to the Program Manager.
