Job Context:
∎ For the team of our "Sustainability in the Textile and Leather Sector (STILE)", we seek applications from suitable candidates for the position of "Law Advisor".
∎ Contract Duration till: June 2024
∎ Band: 4T

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ Tasks (Specific for job role):
∎ The position holder will be
∎ Advising partners, supervisor, colleagues on project and cluster level regarding labour law developments as well as trade union work / workers representation in connection to the implementation of the project
∎ Introducing innovations and implement activities in order to achieve project objectives conforming team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ Assisting project initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups, primarily related to labour law questions and trade union work
∎ Acting as an advisor on labour law / labour rights and trade unions / workers representation in a cross-cutting role and linking between different Outputs and projects
∎ Managing work processes for the successful implementation of Output 1's activities to achieve the project objectives within the project's partner structure (Ministry of Labour and Employment, DIFE, etc.) in close coordination with the project manager and advisors
∎ Support advisors in the selection of workers' representative for capacity development initiative
∎ Plan and support the implementation of workshops, trainings, study tours, and other project activities, mainly within Output 1, especially with a thematic focus on labour law issues, trade union activities and workers representation
∎ Provide advisory support and coordinate capacity development for partner's personnel in accordance with the Output's scope as well as with a particular emphasis on current labour law developments, trade unions' roles and workers representation
∎ Independent stakeholder management, mainly with a focus on Output 1's implementation partner Ministry of Labour and Employment / DIFE but also including other relevant stakeholders in the areas of labour law / rights, trade union work, workers representation
∎ Liaison between different components within STILE as well as between projects on cluster level
∎ Implementing knowledge management and monitoring processes focusing on labour law issues, trade union work and workers representation
∎ Coordinate with international experts and consultants and providing required support as to create the best outputs of assignment
∎ Participate in discussion with other development partners aiming at identifying and using synergies, particularly in the areas of labour law / rights issues, trade union activities and workers representation
∎ Planning, steering and monitoring project activities to achieve broader project goals
∎ Keep abreast with the development of the trade union activities undertaken by German organizations working in Bangladesh.
∎ Other Tasks:
∎ The position holder will be
∎ Supporting the project manager with reporting and knowledge management within the project and communicating progress and results to a broad target group
∎ Representing GIZ towards stakeholders and ensure that GIZ values and principles are upheld
∎ Ensuring safeguarding the quality of project processes

Additional Requirements:
∎ Professional experience:
∎ 5 years of having relevant occupational experience in labour law / labour rights and trade union work / workers representation
∎ 3 years of experience in the development cooperation sector
∎ In depth knowledge of human and labour law standards, current developments regarding Bangladesh's labour law, current debates about the national and international trade union movement, especially in the RMG industry
∎ Knowledge of GIZ's instruments and procedures as well as experience in communication with ministries, policy advice, and cooperation with other donors would be an asset
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
∎ Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
∎ Fluency in English and Bangla is essential
∎ Ability to work in an intercultural environment
∎ Sensitivity in dealing with the different social partners in the textile industry
∎ Good organizational skills and management expertise
∎ Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed - corresponding measures are agreed with management
