Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to support staff professional learning, and create a vibrant learning environment for all.
∎ As a senior leader in the School, be a role model for all students and staff.
∎ Ensure all aspects of the operation of Secondary School are consistent with and supportive of the School's Vision for Learning and strategic priorities, and be personally supportive of the School philosophy.
∎ Be a contributing member of the School Executive.
∎ Apply all School policies as they relate to Secondary School.
∎ Be responsible for the daily leadership and management of the Secondary School.
∎ Provide educational and administrative leadership for the members of the Secondary School teaching staff and supervise their work.
∎ In conjunction with the Head of School, ensure that teaching staff maintain accurate student records and details of assessments for reporting purposes.
∎ Chair or facilitate appropriate meetings concerned with the ongoing smooth operation of Secondary School.
∎ Advise and assist the Head of School and the HR on matters of staffing requirements, including recruitment and selection, and allocation to classes, teaching spaces and offices.
∎ In consultation with the Head of School and Admin, develop and manage the School budget as it applies to Secondary School.
∎ Liaise closely with the Head of Primary School on matters of timetable structure.
∎ Ensure the promotion of a positive and innovative learning environment, where students are able to reach their full potential, and learning is engaging and challenging.
∎ Ensure that 21st Century pedagogies are at the forefront of all decisions around curriculum, teaching practices and facilities development.
∎ Be responsible for curriculum priorities, review, development, implementation and documentation, identifying particular needs for students in Grade 6 to Grade 10.
∎ Oversee subject choice, assessment and reporting and feedback for learning, including parent teacher student conferences and the design of a revised system of reporting on student progress.
∎ Attend and participate in meetings of appropriate professional interest groups.
∎ Oversee internal examinations and construct staff supervision rosters.
∎ Liaise with the Head of School to develop programmes of education support and extension in Secondary School.
∎ Teach classes as directed by the Head of School.
∎ Ensure a positive and supportive model exists for staff assessment and development.
∎ Develop the professional learning programs and development opportunities for staff.
∎ Liaise with the Head of School and HR on matters of staff performance, staff evaluation and staff appraisal as it applies to Secondary School.
∎ Create conditions conducive to team building, staff welfare and pastoral care.
∎ Monitor, support and supervise staff through the Teacher Accreditation process in conjunction with the Director of Professional Learning.
∎ Proactively foster both formal and informal student leadership opportunities for students in Grade 6 to 10.
∎ Participate in the selection process for School Prefects and Student Secondary School Leaders.
∎ Induct and be responsible for the daily organization and supervision of the student leaders as well as providing assistance with the organization of key events.
