Job Responsibilities:
∎ The GIS Officer will be responsible for the following tasks. Any other miscellaneous task may be assigned to them as the situation demands.
∎
∎ Develop GIS products to inform the current REACH projects as well as the planning and decision-making of other humanitarian partners and Technical Working Groups:
∎ Mapping activities
∎ Coordinate with REACH Assessment Unit to ensure mapping products are relevant to support reports, briefings, and other information products produced by REACH
∎ In response to the request from humanitarian actors and sector partners, develop timely mapping products to inform their activities and support decision-making
∎ Spatial analysis
∎ Coordinate with the REACH Assessment Unit to conduct spatial analysis of field-based assessments across a variety of sectors
∎ Contribute to the spatial analysis and GIS product drafting for the Natural Hazard Technical Working Group
∎ Identification of data sources
∎ Liaise closely with a wide variety of actors (NGOs, UN and field staff) to collect and compile secondary data as required by any ongoing projects
∎ Where necessary, plan primary data collection through appropriate methods (e.g., remote sensing, collection of GPS points as part of field assessments, etc.)
∎ Coordinate the data collection and lead on the data processing, address generation and output creation of REACH's Shelter Addressing project:
∎ Data collection activities
∎ Coordinate with the key partners in the projects to plan the primary data collection processes and methods
∎ Monitor data collection activities in the field
∎ Support development of data collection tools and training for partners and enumerators
∎ Data Management and data cleaning
∎ Conduct data cleaning and process large datasets (generated from primary sources)
∎ Create scripts to process the data, where necessary
∎ Ground verification of field data
∎ Make sure all data is stored in a well-organised and accessible manner
∎ Output generation
∎ Create final outputs (maps or other information products) through data processing and analysis
∎ Contribute to the dissemination of GIS products to the key stakeholders within the humanitarian response
∎ Represent REACH in sector meetings, technical working groups and ad-hoc external engagements
∎ Provide presentations to humanitarian actors on the latest GIS products to inform their programming and decision-making
∎ Training and capacity-building
∎ The National GIS Officer is also encouraged to identify training needs and conduct structured training on basic GIS processes (QGIS software, Google Earth/Google Maps, etc.) to strengthen REACH's GIS capacities
Additional Requirements:
∎ Previous experience in team management is essential
∎ Fluency in English (writing and speaking) and Chittagong local language (speaking) is a must
∎ High level of competence with Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint
∎ Ability to conduct relevant information management and protection training for stakeholders
∎ Ability to work independently and organize a team
∎ Ability to translate various data and documentation from English to Bangla and vice versa
∎ Excellent liaison and communication skills
∎ Good knowledge of humanitarian principals
Salary:
∎ Tk. 70000 - 75000 (Monthly)
∎ Salaries will be based on qualifications and experience
