Experience:
Minimum 12 to 15+ years of combined experience in Transport Operations and In-House Vehicle Workshop Management within a large corporate group, RMG manufacturing, or logistics sector.
Technical Workshop Expertise: In-depth technical knowledge of heavy vehicles (covered vans, prime movers, trucks) and light vehicles (sedans, microbuses, SUVs), including engine overhauls, mechanical, electrical, denting, and painting procedures.
BRTA & Regulatory Compliance: Extensive practical experience dealing with BRTA regulations, highway police, traffic departments, route permits, fitness renewals, tax tokens, and vehicle insurance protocols.
Spare Parts & Inventory Control: Hands-on experience in managing workshop inventory, auditing spare parts, tire and battery lifecycles, lubricant consumption, and vendor negotiations.
Fuel & Fleet Analytics: Proven track record of monitoring fuel mileage, implementing GPS tracking, utilizing fleet management software, and preventing fuel theft/misuse.
Team Leadership: Strong ability to lead and discipline a large workforce of mechanics, technicians, drivers, helpers, and transport coordinators.
A renowned RMG in Bangladesh is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and highly capable professional for the position of General Manager-Transport & Workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead integrated management of overall transport fleet operations, distribution logistics, and in-house vehicle workshop facilities.
Oversee full maintenance operations, major engine overhauls, mechanical repairs, and routine servicing across all heavy and light vehicles.
Control total fleet operational budgets, fuel consumption, mileage tracking, workshop inventory, and spare parts procurement costs.
Direct daily dispatch schedules, staff transport pick-and-drop, factory material movement, and vehicle requisition workflows.
Enforce strict legal compliance for all vehicles, including timely renewals of fitness certificates, tax tokens, route permits, and insurance.
Manage workshop mechanics, technicians, drivers, helpers, and supervisors, ensuring productivity, safety standards, and team discipline.
Implement digital fleet tracking, fuel monitoring systems, workshop management software, and ERP logistics integration.
Establish strict inventory control for workshop spare parts, tires, lubricants, and batteries to eliminate theft and misuse.
Maintain relations with external vendors, bodybuilders, third-party logistics providers, and specialized repair facilities.
Direct emergency breakdown response, roadside assistance, accident investigations, and vehicle recovery procedures.
Ensure workplace safety protocols, environmental compliance, hazardous waste disposal, and clean workshop maintenance standards.
Coordinate with traffic police, highway authorities, BRTA, and regulatory bodies to resolve highway or legal issues.
Conduct periodic cost-benefit analyses on fleet lifecycle, vehicle replacement, overhaul feasibility, and maintenance expenditure.
Prepare comprehensive monthly operational reports covering fleet downtime, workshop costs, fuel efficiency, and preventive maintenance.
