∎ SHALOM, is a national nonprofit development organization, working for humanitarian needs and initiating development activities to secure the life and living of the rural and urban poor and disaster vulnerable community since 1971 in Bangladesh. Its outreach programme covers almost 150,000 people in 16 districts.
∎ Report to: Area Coordinator and Higher management of SHALOM
∎ Position Summary: The Gender Officer is responsible for gender mainstreaming and proactive technical support to the organization. S/he will work with all departments and partners to ensure that gender equity principles are incorporated into all policies and activities. S/he will plan, implement and follow up on gender-related activities and provide support to Counterpart staff, partners and grantees on mainstreaming gender in their programs and activities, including design and implementation of trainings on gender-related topics. Provide support, training and technical assistance to the partners on gender and related topics. Ensure gender integration in the day-to-day activities.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assist Area Coordinator, the In-charge: Program Department in performance of his activities.
∎ Contribute to the identification of any gaps with a view to generating ideas for future
∎ Review and provide feedback (verbal and written) on adaptations of GBV Methodologies.
∎ Develop and contextualize a GBV training curriculum for targeted groups and address the issues of GBV, unequal power distribution, social norms, and women's rights.
∎ Monitor regular field visits to ensure the programmers quality and progress toward objectives and support the staff through problem solving to address challenges identified.
∎ Collect, analyze and disseminate project data and information through regular assessments with women and girls for problem analysis, planning and advocacy with other stakeholders; based on this information, ensure adequate adjustments and changes to program's design and implementation in coordination with the Area coordinator and Sector Lead.
∎ Explore opportunities with Child Protection colleagues on how to best support adolescent girls in line with and at the intersection of best interest-determination and the survivor-centered approach and facilitating parenting skills sessions.
∎ Support to develop Program/ sector plan, budget plan, activity plan and operational procedure, guidelines.
∎ Faith group management.
∎ Implement global standard of GBV prevention and risk mitigation suggested by TF Safeguard issues and considering local context.
∎ Prepare monthly reports to ensure accurate monitoring and documentation of activities.
∎ Prepare periodic reports (narrative and quantitative) for donors, government and organization.
∎ Provide technical support on program quality and accountability standards and measures.
∎ Undertake other relevant tasks as requested by the supervisor.
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program's goals on safeguarding implementation.
∎ Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
∎ Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
∎ Excellent management, interpersonal and negotiation skills and promote harmonious/cohesive teamwork, in a cross-culture context

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years' working experience in relevant field and equivalent positioning NGOs.
∎ Strong IT skills, including MS Word, Excel and Power point.
