Experience:
Master’s degree preferred in Gender Studies, Sociology, Public Policy, International Development, or related fields.
At least three (3) years of professional experience in local governance, social accountability, gender empowerment, and democracy support, with demonstrated ability to navigate the political context in Bangladesh.
Experience in gender-focused project management, including design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Experience in inclusion analysis with the ability to identify and address barriers faced by marginalized groups.
In-depth knowledge of best practices, approaches, and methodologies related to equity, inclusion, and women’s engagement.
Ability to facilitate gender-sensitive workshops and consultations.
Familiarity with gender frameworks, such as CEDAW, SDGs, and gender-responsive budgeting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite preferred;
Experience managing a team;
Ability to work well within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;
Bangladesh citizenship required;
Professional fluency in English required.
Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Gender Officer for the USAID funded Responsive Local Governance (RLG) Activity in Bangladesh. The goal of the Activity is catalyzing change within Bangladesh’s local governance system necessitates investment to strengthen Local Elected Government Institutions (LEGI) capacity, improve civil society and citizen participation in governance structures, and bolster multisectoral coordination for quality service delivery. The specific objective of this Activity is to develop LEGIs as an effective, responsive, inclusive, and accountable institution to address social issues and provide quality basic services to the most marginalized. This is a full-time position based in Rangpur. This position is only open to the citizens of Bangladesh.
Essential Job Duties:
Assist in implementing strategies to integrate gender perspectives across program activities, ensuring inclusive governance practices within Local Elected Government Institutions (LEGIs).
Collaborate with program teams to ensure gender-sensitive approaches are incorporated in activities and events.
Provide basic technical assistance to partners on gender-responsive governance practices.
Maintain close collaboration with project partners, ensuring regular communication on gender-related interventions.
Track and report on progress of gender activities in line with project goals and USAID requirements.
Collect and maintain gender-disaggregated data for monitoring and reporting purposes.
Assist in documenting lessons learned and best practices related to gender and social inclusion.
Provide other such similar or related services as DI may reasonably request.
