The Network: Duryog Nivaran Network, established in 1995, is a South Asian network focused on disaster mitigation through research, training, advocacy, and policy dialogues. The network's mission is to strengthen national and regional organizations in South Asia, promoting effective disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities and shaping global discussions on DRR.
The Project: Strengthening Inclusive Disaster Risk Governance for Climate Resilience in Asia (SIDRRA) project is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and led by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in collaboration with DN and the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), aims to increase community resilience to climate change and disasters across South Asia. The project has three main objectives: to strengthen DN’s advocacy capacity, address power imbalances affecting vulnerable populations, and enhance local-level actions to mitigate climate change impacts.
Job Purpose: The GESI Specialist will lead DN strategic actions in mainstreaming gender equality and social inclusion into disaster risk reduction, disaster risk governance, and climate resilience, and provide strategic guidance and technical inputs for the gender equality and social inclusion aspect of the SIDRRA project in all stages: activity planning, implementation, training and capacity building, review and monitoring, documenting, advocacy, and reporting.
Functions/Duties and Responsibilities: The GESI Specialist will lead DN's efforts to integrate gender equality and social inclusion into disaster risk reduction, disaster risk governance, and climate resilience.
