∎ The Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist will oversee the coordination of crosscutting gender strategies by working closely with the technical team to identify opportunities for young women, disadvantaged populations, and youth to succeed and meet private sector workforce demand. He/she will work with private sector market actors to ensure that activities are intentionally designed to help women overcome barriers they face due to combined effects of their age, gender, and residence. The Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist will also contribute meaningfully to the design of the Activity`s behavior change communications (BCC) strategy, participate in designing interventions to identify BCC opportunities, and ensure an integrated approach across objectives. The Specialist will identify opportunities to build the capacity of local partners in the areas of BCC, as well as ensure that local partners are sharing the Activity`s priority of empowering women, disadvantaged populations, and youth in their own organizational mandates.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Lead the design and co-creation of gendered activities and gender mainstreaming in all interventions. Investigate specific gender gaps and gender-specific barriers with respect to key challenges to the overall purpose of the Activity and adapt market-driven solutions that promote systemic changes in the market system.
∎ Collaborate with the MEL team to ensure that gender-sensitive indicators and milestones are included in the Activity MEL Plan and accurately measured and incorporated into private sector partners business flows.
∎ Lead and innovate approaches to the Activity's Collaborate, Learn and Adapt (CLA) platform to inform and improve Activity and private sector approaches and interventions.
∎ Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting by providing information on the extent to gender gaps that were addressed and those that remain; what new opportunities for men and women were created; any differential negative impacts that were addressed or avoided; and what new needs or inequalities emerged or remained.
∎ Train technical staff in Dhaka and regional offices on how to collect and report on gender-sensitive data. In collaboration with the COP, DCOP, technical team, and local partners, identify, test, and scale gender integration approaches throughout the Activity.
∎ Perform an annual gender analysis to inform the Annual Work Plan.
∎ Design and facilitate gender mainstreaming and awareness trainings, as well as BCC trainings, for Activity staff, grantees, and local partners.
∎ Design BCC campaigns with the Communications Specialist.
∎ Work with the Communications Specialist to engage local media firms to help develop integrated public awareness activities to educate women, disadvantaged populations, and youth on value chain opportunities.
∎ Perform any other tasks assigned by the COP or DCOP consistent with the overall nature of the Activity.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years' experience in a gender and inclusivity role preferably with a focus on private sector-led approaches.
∎ Good interpersonal skills, honesty, and commitment to excellence.
∎ Ability to establish and maintain effective, sustainable relationships with Activity staff, USAID Mission personnel, and the general development and business community.
∎ Experience with USAID and working in a multi cultural environment is preferred.
∎ Experience with a range of online content platforms.
∎ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
∎ Strong organizational and work prioritization skills, attention to detail.
∎ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
∎ Demonstrates leadership, versatility, and integrity.
