Responsibilities & Context:
1. Technical Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues during sample development, ensuring smooth and timely execution.
2. Sample Quality & Compliance: Ensure all samples meet buyer requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and compliance expectations.
3. Buyer Communication: Communicate and coordinate with buyers/technical teams regarding technical queries, comments, clarifications, and corrective actions.
4. Cross-Functional Follow-Up: Closely follow up with Merchandising, Pattern, Master, MCD, Cutting, Sewing, Embroidery, Wash, Finishing, and QC teams to ensure samples are completed and submitted on time.
5. Risk Assessment: Conduct technical risk analysis together with the HOD and Buying/GT team and take proactive corrective actions before sample submission.
6. Product Safety: Identify potential product safety risks and provide clear technical guidelines to sample operators and relevant teams.
7. Root Cause Analysis: Conduct RCA for critical/rejected samples, identify recurring technical issues, and implement preventive actions to improve the sample approval/hit rate.
8. Sample Management: Coordinate and monitor all types of samples, including DV, Fit, Black Seal, PP, Size Set, Salesman Samples, and other buyer-specific requirements.
9. Pre-Production Meeting: Attend and actively contribute to pre-production meetings, highlighting technical risks, critical points, and required actions.
10. Technical Specification Review: Review tech packs, measurement charts, construction details, workmanship standards, comments, and buyer manuals to ensure correct sample execution.
11. Sample Timeline Management: Prepare and monitor sample development timelines and ensure all technical milestones are achieved within the buyer's required lead time.
12. Comment Implementation: Ensure buyer comments are properly understood, communicated, and incorporated into subsequent sample developments.
13. Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to Pattern, Sample, Production, and Quality teams regarding garment construction, fit, workmanship, and finishing.
14. First-Time-Right Approach: Drive improvements to achieve better sample quality, faster approval, and higher first-time approval rates.
15. Issue Escalation: Immediately escalate critical technical, quality, safety, or timeline risks to the HOD and relevant management for timely resolution.
16. Knowledge Sharing: Maintain records of recurring technical issues, buyer comments, and corrective actions and share learnings with the relevant teams to prevent repetition.
17. Buyer Standard Compliance: Keep updated with buyer-specific technical standards, construction requirements, testing requirements, and market-specific expectations for the European market.
18. Production Readiness: Ensure approved sample comments and technical requirements are properly transferred to the production team before bulk production.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Strong experience in Garment Technical / Sample Development, preferably handling European buyers.
Good knowledge of garment construction, pattern, fit, workmanship, washing, finishing, and quality requirements.
Strong communication and coordination skills with both buyers and internal cross-functional teams.
Ability to analyze technical problems and provide practical solutions.
Strong follow-up, ownership, and time-management skills.
Good understanding of buyer tech packs, specifications, comments, and sample approval processes.
Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and root-cause-analysis capability.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple developments simultaneously.
