• Minimum three (03) years of experience in managing and supervising field data collection teams in quantitative surveys and/or qualitative research

• Prior experience supervising data collection with sensitive or hard-to-reach populations such as street-connected children, people engaged with sex work, or trafficking survivors is strongly preferred.

• Experience with RDS or NSUM survey methods is a significant advantage.        

• Experience using and supporting field teams on digital data collection platforms (MQUAD, KoBoToolbox, SurveyCTO) is required.        

• Experience working on research, public health, child protection, or development projects is preferred.A.     Data collection Instrument:·

• All selected candidates must attend and complete the mandatory pre-deployment training programme covering: study overview and research protocol; instrument review and practice interviews; digital platform orientation; child safeguarding and adverse event reporting; trauma-informed and child-friendly engagement; informed consent and assent procedures; and field safety protocols.       

• All field staff must sign and adhere to PSTC’s field Code of Conduct, including zero-tolerance clauses on safeguarding violations, confidentiality breaches, and professional misconduct.

Population Services & Training Center (PSTC) is a leading national non-governmental organization in Bangladesh working on public health, child protection, and social development. PSTC is implementing a national baseline study on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children across Dhaka, Barishal, Khulna, and Mymensingh Divisions in collaboration with Population Council Consulting Pvt. Ltd. and with support from Population Council Inc. The study employs a rigorous mixed-methods design to measure CSEC prevalence and explore community reliance on the criminal justice system in the selected districts of four divisions. Data collection includes multiple quantitative surveys and qualitative approaches with children at risk and survivors of CSEC, local and national-level government and non-government stakeholders of the criminal justice system. PSTC is now inviting applications for Field Supervisors to oversee and manage field data collection teams in both quantitative and qualitative components.

Contract type: Temporary/Short-term

Duration: Approximately 30-45 working days in October 2026 – November 2026

Location: Four divisions in Bangladesh: Dhaka, Barishal, Khulna, Mymensingh

Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in Social Science, Public Health, Sociology, Development Studies, or a closely related field.

Experience:

• Minimum three (03) years of experience in managing and supervising field data collection teams in quantitative surveys and/or qualitative research.

Training and Code of Conduct:

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coordinate, and supervise a team of field-based Research Assistants (quantitative enumerators and/or qualitative field researchers) across assigned districts.

• Ensure daily field operations run according to the approved research protocol, sampling plan, and data collection schedule.

• Conduct daily team briefings and debriefings to review progress, resolve questions, and address emerging field challenges.

• Monitor data quality in real time by reviewing submitted records, checking for completeness and consistency, and providing corrective feedback to enumerators.

• Maintain and submit daily field progress reports to the core research team, including data submission counts, field challenges, and any adverse events.

• Verify that all sampling and recruitment protocols are followed accurately.

• Oversee and verify the implementation of all informed consent and assent procedures with adult and child respondents.

• Support qualitative field researchers in facilitating IDIs, FGDs, and KIIs where needed, and ensure audio recordings, transcriptions, and field notes meet quality standards.

• Conduct qualitative interviews as required and suggested by the core research team.

• Ensure strict adherence to all child safeguarding and trauma-informed engagement protocols by all team members at all times.

• Identify and immediately report any adverse incidents, child safeguarding concerns, or protocol deviations to the core research team.

• Coordinate logistics for field operations, including scheduling respondent visits, managing field materials, and liaising with local gatekeepers and partner organizations.

• Manage per diem, travel reimbursements, and daily activity documentation for field team members as required.

• Assist the core research team with troubleshooting of the digital data collection platform.

• Any other relevant duties suggested by the administrative authority.

Compensation: Negotiable. A competitive, market standard fixed honorarium will be provided for the contract duration. Actual long travel cost and a fixed monthly telephone bill allowance will be provided.
