Skills Required: Child Protection

Additional Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of Child Protection in Emergencies, child safeguarding policies, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), and BRAC culture and values

• Proven ability in reporting, planning, work plan development, and implementation procedures

• Skilled in managing stress and emotions while maintaining professional effectiveness in challenging situations

Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

To support the effective implementation of Child Protection services, the Field Facilitator is responsible for conducting structured sessions on psychosocial support (PSS), Community-Based Child Protection Committee (CBCPC) meetings, awareness-raising activities, positive parenting sessions, and outreach activities including recreational support. To ensure the delivery of adequate services, this position maintains regular contact with children, adolescents, and the community.

  • Through home visit identify and registration of children and adolescent for the child protection services i.e. structured PSS session and adolescent led initiatives.

  • Formation of community-based child protection committee, parents and caregiver committee to ensure the child protection service to the vulnerable.

  • Through home visit identify and registration of community, parents and caregiver and conduct positive parenting session, CBCPC meetings and community led initiatives

  • Conduct out-reach based child protection activities, ensuring inclusion of hard-to-reach children and adolescents.

  • Maintain attendance and follow-up the children and adolescent participating in activities and sessions in a regular basis.

  • Conduct monthly meeting with youth group and take proactive role to reinforce the child protection activities,

  • Facilitate and conduct the awareness raising activities for the children including adolescent and communities regarding the protection and self-care,

  • Develop the capacity of the community volunteer who is working inside the Multi-purpose child and adolescent centre and in outreach activities.

  • Ensure timely documentation, recording, and reporting of Centre activities and submit regular reports to relevant supervisors and authorities.

  • Recording and reporting the day-to-day status of the children and the drop-in care center.

  • Ensure safe referral of the vulnerable children to the caseworkers and relevant services identified through sessions, recreational activities and home visits.

Safeguarding

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
