• Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Construction Management/ Vocational Training in Civil Technology or a related field (preferred).

• At least 1 year

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year in a similar supervisory role within the construction sector.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities and construction practices.

Technical Skills:

• Ability to read and understand drawings, BoQs, and basic engineering documents.
• Skilled in basic measurement, estimation, and site monitoring.
• Good understanding of safety standards and construction quality requirements.
• Proficiency in MS Office, mobile apps, and field reporting tools.

Position Overview:

The Field Assistant- Site Engineer plays a vital role in the successful delivery of community-based infrastructure projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of mosques, shelters, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities, repair or renovation and other essential structures.

The position requires frequent field visits within Sylhet Division, coordination with contractors, community representatives, and internal teams to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with project standards. Local candidates from Sylhet are strongly encouraged to apply. Must hold a valid driving license. Ability to ride a motorcycle is mandatory; daily field mobility requires motorbike use.

Type of appointment: Short-term contract, which is renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of the requirement.

Reporting Supervisor: Country Office Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

A. Technical Support & Site Supervision

• Carrying out assessment and feasibility studies in the project to provide line managers with alternatives and possible solutions to infrastructure challenges in the area of specialization, e.g., installing / building / implementing. Liaising directly with the staff to identify the project needs and managing response and prioritization of requests.
• Supervise and monitor day-to-day construction activities to ensure alignment with Design, BoQ, project plans, schedules and specifications.
• Ensure all construction work complies with safety regulations, technical standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and resolve any construction-related issues promptly.

B. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain site records, work progress data, and daily activity logs.
• Assist in preparing weekly/monthly progress reports, site photos, and field documentation.
• Support documentation of material usage, measurements, and work completion certificates.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, site reports and relevant documentation for project records.

C. Coordination & Communication

• Act as a liaison between the construction team, engineers, project management and local stakeholders.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, community members, and local authorities as required.
• Support field-level communication with project beneficiaries.
• Participate in field meetings, monitoring missions, and technical assessments.

D. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all construction activities follow organizational standards, safety protocols, and environmental requirements.
• Promote safe working practices on-site and report any hazards.

E. Additional Responsibilities

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor related to field engineering support.
