Education:
A Master’s degree in Program Management, Climate change, Geography, Environmental Science, Applied Environmental Science, Health, Social Sciences, or related field.
Extensive knowledge of one or more of the following areas: food security, climate change, USAID environmental compliance, social welfare, grants, food commodities/logistics, disaster risk management, and/or gender.
Ability to travel to project sites within Bandarban district
Experience of managing WASH activities and supervise teams in Bandarban.
Management experience of relevant activities
Familiarity with U.S. Government (USG) regulations
Diplomacy, strong presentation skills--oral and written
Excellent computer and internet skills
Strong English and Bangla language skills
Previous employment with an international NGO (desired)
Experience working with USAID-funded food security projects (desired)
Experience working in the CHT (desired)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide environmental compliance oversight for climate smart agriculture and any WASH related activities under BANI response.
Ensure proper environmental compliance documentation for all IGA and livelihood activities implemented under BANI, and fill up any gap that needs to be addressed.
Respond to the BANI EMMR issues and answer queries from USAID BEO and MEO.
Draft and update BANI IEE, EMMP and CRM documents for the extension period and get those documents approved from USAID.
Draft EMMR for BANI FY24, BANI FY25 covering activities from June 2024 to March 2025 with template for remaining activities.
Review and rewrite monthly spot monitoring report and recommend program team to take mitigative action to follow USAID environmental compliance.
Draft 1-page report on environmental activities for Quarterly report.
Write environment section of BANI Annual Report.
Ensure compliance with USAID Regulation 216, Bangladesh environmental laws and any/all programmatic materials/documentation related to environmental compliance and monitoring, including the IEE and EMMP.
Work with BANI team members and communities to raise awareness about environmental degradation and natural resource management to improve environmental conditions within BANI’s program areas.
Apply updated USAID and Bangladesh environmental regulations.
Train staff in environmental regulations, compliance and application of post assessment checklists.
Coordinate with M&E team to extract key findings and work to adjust or modify activities where needed.
Provide an orientation session on all BANI environmental training manuals, TOTs, guidelines, forms, standard operating procedures, and update any as necessary.
Formulate ideas and train field staff on new climate smart technologies to make agricultural practices of the project adaptive and up to date with the changing climate.
Implement climate smart irrigation technologies such as half moon bunds.
Oversee the implementation of repairing and construction of rain water harvesting systems, installation of solar powered water pump etc.
Supervise and oversee environmental compliance assistant.
