Job Context:
∎ Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples` entered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centred approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 331 upazilas under 51 districts of Bangladesh covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.
∎ Presently, we are implementing the Healthy Village in Urban (HVU) programme in Lalmonirhat municipality and six peri-urban Unions within Lalmonirhat district. The HVU program, an innovation developed by Max Foundation, is being implemented by Max Foundation and its partners. The Healthy Village program has been in operation since 2017. Already 409 villages in the South-coastal region of Bangladesh declared as Healthy Villages. With the technical and financial support provided by Max Foundation, we are scaling-up the Healthy Village program to urban areas.
∎ The purpose of the Healthy village in Urban (HVU) is to take our healthy village innovation to the next level of scale by 1) proving that it works in an urban Bangladeshi context and 2) through adoption of the approach or elements of it by key stakeholders. The objectives of HVU are as follows: -
∎ Objective 1: HVU demonstration project in northern Bangladesh, in Lalmonirhat municipality and surrounding peri-urban areas, reaching 157,000 people.
∎ Objective 2: Uptake of the approach by government, other NGOs and donors, and private sector actors. This is expected to have an impact on almost 2 million people (1.88 million) through actions undertaken by those actors, influenced and supported by Max Foundation.
∎ In this backdrop, ESDO would like to hire a contractual staff named Monitoring Officer who will work 48 hours per week to perform the monitoring and evaluation related tasks of HVU and duty station will be in Lalmonirhat district.
∎ ESDO in partnership with Max Foundation is implementing the "Healthy Village in Urban" project at Lalmonirhat District. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.
∎ Contribute to promote ‘Entrepreneurship’ throughout HVU project for creating sustainable Healthy village in Urban context.
∎ Demonstrate experience and expertise to develop entrepreneurship, development of local level associations, engage private sectors, lead to products and services development, facilitate individual entrepreneur’s business model, implementation and quality control as well as support to scale-up of entrepreneur’s model.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Entrepreneurs’ selection and onboard at local level
∎ Technical support to ESDO for mapping/selection of Potential Entrepreneurs;
∎ Technical support to ESDO for registration of entrepreneurs;
∎ Lead to develop Entrepreneurs Association at Union, Upazila and District level.
∎ Capacity Building
∎ Capacity building of ESDO staff on entrepreneurship, products and services development;
∎ Capacity building to Health Promotion Agent (HPA), sweepers’ and Local Entrepreneur (LE) for products and services development, business planning, demand creation, marketing and business management;
∎ Facilitate different trainings sessions assigned by the line manager.
∎ Support ESDO field staff to conduct ignition with child stunting data, risk analysis, baseline survey and other technical support related to HVU project implementation.
∎ Develop Technical Material and Guideline
∎ Support and develop demand creation and marketing materials relating to entrepreneurship business development;
∎ Support to develop IEC/SBCC materials for awareness and demand creation for CBP and entrepreneurs;
∎ Communicate with business companies/government agencies to improve the quality of the materials;
∎ Support to develop project implementation guidelines like business development guideline etc.;
∎ Implementation and supervision of field level new initiatives/innovations regarding business development.
∎ Networking and Collaboration and Advocacy
∎ Set up linkage with entrepreneurs, companies, social business institutions, Suppliers, MFI, FI and service providers related to WASH, Nutrition, Health Care services and products;
∎ Coordination with govt. Official at Union, Upazila and District level;
∎ Coordination and collaboration with Community Clinic, Union Health Center, Upazila, District and divisional level health service providers.
∎ Planning, Supervision and Reporting
∎ Prepare individual annual and monthly deliverables and performance report and submit to line manager.
∎ Supervision of filed level implementation regarding entrepreneurs’ business activities and submit report to line manager.
∎ Develop and implement annual DIPBR regarding entrepreneurs’ business development.
∎ Prepare project related progress report relating to entrepreneurship development and submit to line manager.
∎ Capacity building of Community Business Promotors (CBP) engaging Government and Private sector's actors including linkage support
∎ Participate in regular team meetings to discuss activity progress and learning.
∎ Ensure that the feedback mechanism for accountability to staff and beneficiaries is operational in the project areas.
∎ Share weekly field activities updates with the Project Manager.
∎ Perform other duties assigned by Project Manager.
∎ Supervise the Urban Community Mobilization Facilitators for proper and timely implementation of the activities.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 40 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply

∎ At least 05 years of experience in development sector/business company/social Business Company. Minimum 03-year experiences on business development/entrepreneurship development.
∎ Computer Literacy (MS Word, PowerPoint point etc.) and presentation skills;
∎ Excellent speaking and writing skills both in Bangla and English.
∎ Demonstrate skills on networking and collaboration and coordination with government counterpart.
∎ Supervision of field activities.
∎ Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
∎ Flexible to face new challenges.
∎ Analytical thinking and decision-making.
∎ Good verbal and written communication skills in local language, English and Bengali.
∎ Pro-active and participatory decision-making and problem-solving.
∎ Willing to drive Motorcycle & should have a valid driving license.
∎ Any other tasks assigned by supervisor/ management.
∎ Gender Sensitivity and understanding of emergency crisis management for project implementation.
Salary: Tk. 55500 (Monthly)
