or equivalent pharmacy qualification from a recognized institution.

Valid professional registration with the relevant pharmacy authority, where applicable

  • Previous experience in pharmacy dispensing, preferably in primary healthcare, NGO, humanitarian, or refugee-response setting.

  • Knowledge of essential medicines, rational drug use, prescription interpretation, and pharmacy inventory management.

  • Good record-keeping, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and high-volume healthcare environment

  • Having the experience (PHC/HP/Hospital/ Warehouse) to work in the Rohingya context with the health sector will be preferable

  • Having knowledge of the chittagong language will be preferable

  • GK work experience will be consider as added value

Responsibilities & Context:

Mission context

GK was created in 1972 with two visions. Firstly, "the fate of the poor decides fate of the country". Secondly, "development of the country depends on development of women". Since 2017, Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) and UNHCR have entered in a partnership to respond to the Rohyinga crisis in Cox Bazar & Bhasanchar

 Job Purpose:

To ensure safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medicines to patients and support effective pharmacy stock management in accordance with national guidelines, organizational SOPs, and humanitarian health standards.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispense medicines accurately according to prescriptions and authorized treatment protocols.

  • Provide patients with clear instructions on dosage, frequency, duration, storage, and possible precautions related to their medicines.

  • Verify prescriptions for completeness and clarify any discrepancies with the prescriber or pharmacist before dispensing.

  • Maintain accurate records of medicine dispensing, including prescriptions, dispensing registers, and other required documentation.

  • Support proper receiving, storage, arrangement, and distribution of medicines and medical supplies according to FEFO/FIFO principles.

  • Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, near-expiry items, damaged medicines, and potential stock-outs, and report concerns promptly.

  • Maintain appropriate temperature, cleanliness, security, and organization of the pharmacy and medicine storage areas.

  • Support regular physical stock counts and reconciliation of pharmacy inventory with stock records..

  • Ensure proper segregation and disposal of expired, damaged, or unusable medicines according to organizational and regulatory procedures.

  • Promote rational use of medicines and report suspected medication errors, adverse drug reactions, or other medicine-related incidents to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Maintain confidentiality and respectful communication with patients, including culturally appropriate interaction with the Rohingya community.

  • Support pharmacy audits, supervision, monitoring visits, and reporting activities as required.

  • Coordinate with clinicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other PHCC team members to ensure uninterrupted medicine availability and appropriate patient care.

  • Perform any other pharmacy-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Special Note:

  • Carry out any additional assignments per her/his position entrusted with the GK Management from time to time and mutually agreed upon.       

  • Management may, at any point in time, modify this job description as it is deemed necessary in Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s interests in consultation with the incumbent·       

  • Due to the emergency response nature of GK`s work, hours of work may vary, and employees should be flexible in approaching hours of work in emergency conditions. ·       

  • The employee must respect the timetable, terms, and conditions of Gonoshasthaya Kendra and should always be available to respond to an emergency.
