∎ The overall objective of the incumbent of the position would be to help implement the strategic plan of the division Research and Knowledge Management of DM WATCH, by executing and participating the activities of the cluster "Urban Development and Management", with a view to achieving the mission and vision of the organization, keeping in mind its core values.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Designing an efficient database and developing customized GIS according to clients' requirement
∎ Documenting all projects, providing support to all projects in coordination with statisticians and subject matter experts
∎ Supporting effective decision-making process through GIS data management and analysis
∎ Managing, analyzing and informing/reporting to the team about the spatial data under each study.
∎ Monitoring of the data generated under a study, tagged with geolocation.
∎ Maintaining a geographical library with a range of different maps and prepared information.
∎ Analyzing data based on certain criteria and use that knowledge to generate reports for using in other projects and solving technical problems using statistical knowledge to spot trends and find errors
∎ Developing geolocation data-based infographics, charts, information presentation etc.
∎ Manipulating and analyzing geographical information to be presented in reports or presentations
∎ Coordinating field data collection teams and support in the monitoring of surveys conducted by DM WATCH
∎ Managing all data requests from internal and external sources and perform all metadata as per standard regulations
∎ Managing GIS data for each assignment and provide required data to team members or other clusters in demand bases, and able to make spatial analysis.
∎ Coming up with brief maps and studying and examining them
∎ Analyzing and explaining tabular charts and implementing inside advanced tools
∎ Training colleagues for an effective use of GIS systems
∎ Developing effective relationships with all institutions to incorporate programs in courses and preparing various model designs on SQL and Oracle database platforms
∎ Designing experiments and developing research protocols
∎ Developing indicators and preparing different study tools for collecting primary and secondary data
∎ Using a digital platform (e.g., GeoODK, Survey 123, KoboCollect, ODK) for preparing advanced forms for different data collection
∎ Preparing research proposals and searching for opportunities of international research grants
∎ Publishing review and original papers in scientific peer reviewed journals

Additional Requirements:
∎ This position is to provide expertise on GIS and RS mapping, location-based decision-making processes and evaluation based on spatial data to fulfill the objectives of clients and DM WATCH's data management strategy. The candidate will have the responsibility to ensure the management of GIS/ RS data, DM WATCH's own research and other project data along with supervising the working team. Experience on regularly producing reports pertaining to mapped data, overseeing data mining for map production, programming and operating GPS software/ other spatial data measuring tools, collaborating with local entities to increase the depth of data for more robust mapping systems, quantifying spatial data to create detailed informational modules for DM WATCH and its clients are required in this position. The candidate should possess relevant professional experience in working in the urban development/ planning/ community development sector. The candidate must have 4 years of relevant professional experience. If any candidate has a PhD, the duration of the PhD can be counted as a professional experience.
∎ The candidate, ideally, should-
∎ Have a firm willingness to continue the career in the field of research and consultancy
∎ Have advanced knowledge of research methodology and statistics
∎ Support in an effective decision-making process through Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote sensing (RS) data management and analysis
∎ Have an understanding of geospatial data and dynamic dashboard application
∎ Interpret and assess remotely sensed imagery, GIS products and understand their metadata
∎ Be an ArcMap or ArcGIS pro Desktop professional with expertise in basic geoprocesses, building and editing geodatabase, metadata creation and editing, model building using model builder, map presentation with cartographic representation, geospatial and 3d analysis
∎ Be strong in geostatistical analysis and has sufficient knowledge and skills to conduct his/her own GIS and remote sensing investigations
∎ Be a practitioner of programming in ArcGIS/ other GIS platform using python
∎ Have experience with ArcGIS Online, such as creating, editing and deploying online maps
∎ Be familiar with web mapping technology, its architecture, application and tools
∎ Be able to make high-quality graphics, diagrams, maps, sketches and/or renderings.
∎ Be experienced with Adobe Creative Suite programs, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
∎ Analyze, manipulate and generate visual depictions of large data sets
∎ Be experienced in using web-based mapping platforms like CartoDB, MapBox or other platforms designed to use Open Street Map
∎ Have proven record of science writing (publication in peer reviewed journals are preferable)
∎ Have the willingness to work under academic challenge
∎ Be humble and open to criticism
∎ Be always prepared to step out of the comfort zone by learning about new ideas and exploring novel and difficult topics
∎ Have good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
∎ Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bangla (if Bangladeshi) and English
∎ Have good organizational and administrative skills
∎ Be a critical thinker, numerate, curious, independent, excited to learn, flexible, creative, professional, a passionate reader, a dynamic worker, organized and collaborative, and comfortable with new tech.
∎ Have a strong attention to detail, the ability to problem solving, the capacity to lead a team, and the practice of critical analysis

Salary:
∎ BDT 60,000-BDT 80,000
