Educational Requirements:

∎ BSc in IT Software, GIS, Data analysis.
∎ Master's Degree IT Software, GIS (preferred)

Job Context:
∎ Under the umbrella of Helvetas, REACH conducts research assessments and information management activities supporting the Cox`s Bazar refugee and local communities in association with the refugee response in the district. The Data Officer would work within the GIS and Data Team and would coordinate with colleagues in the Assessments Team to ensure accurate and efficient data analysis.
∎ Assignment:
∎ Under the supervision of the REACH Senior GIS Officer(International), the Data Officer will assist in coordinating with external partners, developing and implementing data collection tools, supervising the field teams, analyzing the Data, and producing research outputs. The Data Officer will be based in the ACTED/REACH Cox`s Bazar office.

∎ Functions:
∎ This role requires strong R coding skills and would suit an applicant with experience in data analysis and research design and who has ability to work well within a team and, coordinating with colleagues to complete tasks. Further information regarding the project can be provided on request.
∎ Estimated start date mid-July 2021. To be based in Cox`s Bazar, although remote options can be discussed in the event of ongoing Covid 19 lockdown restrictions.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Coding R scripts for data checking and data analysis.
∎ Working alongside Assessment Officers to clean and quality check incoming assessment data in R and Excel and developing structured data analysis plans.
∎ Maintaining and updating data analysis methods, assessment templates and code banks.
∎ Varied data analysis and processing related to natural hazard, such as assessing correlation between weather data and hazard incidents and visualising complex datasets.
∎ Advanced candidates will be encouraged to contribute to the development of R tools, scripts and packages to streamline work flows of both the Bangladesh and Global REACH teams.
∎ Advanced candidates will be encouraged to use interactive visualisation tools e.g. R Shiny.
∎ There is potential to broaden the role to GIS tasks if the applicant is suitably experienced.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
∎ Must have experience with R coding language and have a desire to learn/develop skills.
∎ Strong Excel skills and good knowledge of MS Office programs and google sheets.
∎ Ability to work independently and to manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
∎ Positive work ethic and a desire to work in the humanitarian field.
∎ Confidence to coordinate regularly with colleagues in different teams and good communication skills to ensure the clear communication of complex analysis.
∎ Experience in data visualisation and communication.
∎ Additional Criteria:
∎ Experience with GIS software (QGIS and/or ArcMap) for editing, processing and visualising geospatial data or experience working with geospatial data in R/python would be beneficial.
∎ Experience developing KoBo surveys would be beneficial.
