- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Architecture
- The Accessibility Auditor/Audit team must comprise of B.Sc. in Civil/Architecture, an Informational Accessibility Expert, and a Disability Inclusion Expert.
- Team lead must be from B.Sc. in Civil/Architecture background Technical expert with experience in infrastructure assessment, technical drawing, BoQ preparation.
Requirements: Skills Required: Additional Requirements: - Proficient knowledge of Bangladesh National Building Code and international accessibility standards.
- Technical expertise on informational accessibility aspects
- Inclusion specialist or expert with an understanding of gender and disability inclusion in Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation.
- Must have proven experience in conducting accessibility or infrastructure audits.
Responsibilities & Context: Access Bangladesh Foundation is looking for a qualified and experienced Accessibility Audit Expert/team under the project titled “Establishing Disaster Resilient Communities in Satkhira” Project.
This organization is a leading national NGO working over the last 17 years to promote equity for persons with disabilities and other marginalized people in all spheres of life through education, training, employment, arts and culture, sports, legal services, health care, climate change and information and communication technology.
Duration: 12 days
Job Location: Access Bangladesh Foundation Project Office, Nakipur, Shyamnagar, Satkhira
Reporting: Head of Program, Access Bangladesh Foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall implementation of the assignment as per the design to achieve intended outcomes and ensure timely delivery of activities.
- Conduct an inception meeting with Nabolok and Access Bangladesh team.
- Develop a detailed work plan with methodology
- Conduct physical site visits to the two selected cyclone shelters and carry out a detailed accessibility assessment.
- Engage local persons with different types of disabilities during the assessment and understand their practical barriers
- Prepare individual audit reports for each shelter, including findings and contextualized actionable recommendations.
- Develop technical drawings and BoQ that reflect required renovations to improve accessibility.
- Prepare Powerpoint presentation of the findings and recommendations with design
- Attend the validation meeting for validate the technical drawings with local government stakeholders, including the UNO, Project Implementation Officer, Union Council Chairmen, and other relevant actors.
- Prepare a final compilation report that presents the overall results of the assignment.
Safeguarding and Gender Consideration
- Follow a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH).
- Ensure safe, voluntary, and informed participation in all consultations and interviews.
- Avoid collecting any personally identifiable or sensitive information of persons with disabilities and other at-risk groups
- Create a safe and respectful environment during field visits, especially for women, persons with disabilities and other marginalized people.
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the designated focal point of the implementing organization.
