Additional Requirements:
  • Age 25 to 45 years
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in a similar position in a humanitarian context, preferably in the Rohingya response.

  • Masters` in Public Health degree from govt. Recognized medical colleges/universities will get preference.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage healthcare projects in stressful, time-sensitive environments.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, including experience presenting to professional and donor audiences.

  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills, particularly in grant proposals and project reports.

  • Flexible work attitude with the ability to adapt to changing demands.

  • Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, KoBo, Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, etc.).

  • Experience in research and publication is an advantage.



Responsibilities & Context:

BACKGROUND OF GONOSHASTHAYA KENDRA AND THE PROJECT:

Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) is a National NGO. GK registered as a Public Charitable Trust in 1972 and started with two visions (a) “the fate of the poor decides fate of the country, and (b) “development of the country depends on development of women.”

GK has been active in responding to all significant natural disasters in Bangladesh since 1972 through the mobilization of its own and foreign resources. GK provided food aid, lifesaving medicine and treatments in its operational Upazila during flood of 1987, 1988, 2000, Tornado: in 1989, Cyclone and tidal surge: in 1985 1991, 1994, Cyclone SIDR in 2007, Cyclone AILA 2009 in its operational areas.

GK has experienced partnerships with several UN agencies, and INGOs, such as UNDP, UNHCR, WFP, WHO, World Bank, European Union, UNHCR, Christian Aid, Action Aid, We Social Movement, French Support Committee, Save the Children, Plan Bangladesh, Medico International and many others.

GK is managing 43 health centers in 19 districts, two hospitals of 250 beds, and the largest dialysis center in Bangladesh where 100 people could be treated simultaneously. GK is running one University, Medical College, Dental College, Medical Technical School, Pharmaceutical Industry and a Vocational training school providing short, long and customized courses for distressed women. GK has awarded numerous national and international awards for its work on health and disaster response.

Gonoshasthaya Kendra Bangladesh and its partner Malteser International are two humanitarian organizations in Bangladesh that have been working on emergency programs since September 2017, post-emergency and development. GK is currently implementing a project funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and Malteser International (MI) of “Improving the health and nutritional situation of refugees in Cox's Bazaar and contributing to the peaceful coexistence of refugee and host communities”. The goal of this project is to improve the health, nutrition, and psychosocial status of refugees while assisting host communities through health education in community level.

Purpose of the position: This position is responsible for overall planning, implementation and monitoring of entire community health outreach activities in 3 camps, under the leadership and guidance of the Medical Coordinator and support from CMs.

Job Description of Community Outreach Officer:

  1. Conduct/update health and outreach actors mapping, including referral pathways in 3 camps.
  2. Prepare the implementation guideline and plan for Community Outreach activities with the guidance of CM/MC.
  3. Develop Curriculum/Modules/IEC material for community health workers and CHW supervisors training with the support from MC/CMs.
  4. Supervise, monitor and provide technical support to CHW supervisors
  5. Support HR department to recruit volunteers/CHWs for outreach activity.
  6. Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on community outreach components for CHWG/GK, etc.
  7. Conduct the periodic reviews of activities and planning as per the project calendar in consultation with MC/CMs.
  8. Conduct Focus Group Discussion/KII in the community level for the collection of qualitative information required to understand the impact of outreach work, for program development and reporting purposes.
  9. Build relationships with other stakeholders such as protection, WASH, Nutrition, etc.
  10. Document learning and challenges of outreach work for annual and monthly reports.
  11. Ensure regular household visits with the CHW supervisor and community health workers.
  12. Prepare and collect case studies and success stories for donor reports.
  13. Collaboration with data department to ensure validation and analysis of outreach data.
  14. Regularly monitoring of MHPSS, Nutrition, SRH, EPI related outreach activities.
  15. Respect Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s Internal Regulations, Terms and Conditions of Engagement and procedures of all departments and agree to contribute to successful collaboration

Reporting:

  1. Follow up with CHW Supervisors submitting outreach data to HIS/MEAL/CMs.
  2. Contribute to Monthly, interim, and final reports with qualitative and qualitative data and evidence on outreach activity
  3. Prepare and submit of community outreach report to the community health working group.
