Responsibilities & Context:
∎ The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is a scientific nonprofit organization that sets standards for the identity, strength, quality, and purity of medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements manufactured, distributed, and consumed worldwide. USP’s drug standards are enforceable in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration, and these standards are used in more than 140 countries. USP’s focus on global public health extends to lower and middle-income countries with work in over 20 countries through donor-funded programs. Our programs are focused on building the capacity of regulatory authorities and manufacturers in ensuring patient access to quality-assured essential medicines by providing: 1) technical assistance to manufacturers to increase the supply of quality-assured priority medicines for malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) products; and 2) capacity-building activities to regulatory authorities to fulfill their function in ensuring the supply of quality-assured medical products. USP was awarded the Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+) program, a USAID-funded global program designed to sustainably strengthen medical product quality assurance systems in low-and-middle income countries, including Bangladesh. PQM+ is currently seeking a communication officer-consultant to support the implementation of the program in Bangladesh.
∎ The incumbent will work to ensure the implementation of the PQM+ program’s communication strategies in support of its program and objectives in the context of the USP-Bangladesh strategic direction at the country level. This will serve to promote and increase knowledge about the work and achievements of the PQM+ program at the country level and the visibility of USP-Bangladesh.
∎ Execute the established communication strategy to advance advocacy and awareness of the PQM+ program’s objectives and achievements.
∎ Collaborate with the Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party-Technical, Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, and HQ communication focal points to ensure seamless implementation of communication plans.
∎ Identify success stories and create communication materials, including reports, brochures, infographics, and digital content.
∎ Ensure that technical information is presented in an accessible and engaging manner for diverse audiences.
∎ In coordination with the technical team, develop all close-out documentation, including the final country report, highlighting program achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations.
∎ Manage social media platforms and digital content to enhance the program’s online presence and visibility.
∎ Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, and coordinate media events to amplify program achievements as required.
∎ Develop communication materials tailored to stakeholders such as donors, partners, and beneficiaries.
∎ Organize events, campaigns, and initiatives to engage stakeholders and showcase the program’s impact.
