Additional Requirements: Minimum 5-7 years of work experience in a program development and management position, including 3 years as Business Development Manager with progressive responsibilities with an international NGO.
Experience in programmes areas such as livelihood, education, health and nutrition, disaster management, humanitarian and children sponsorship.
Substantial experience in successful business development and fund raising, capturing significant public and private donor funding, including proposal coordination, proposal writing, and agreement negotiation.
Strong experience in project grants management for large and complex projects, including project design, budget preparation, expenditure tracking, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, etc.
Staff management experience and competencies that are conducive to fostering an open learning environment.
Have knowledge and experience of working with institutional donors such as ECHO, EU, UN, USAID, and FCDO, etc.
Facilitating and capacity building initiative of others.
Knowledge on using technology and follow departmental procedures.
Knowledge and experience of MS Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Responsibilities & Context: Key Accountabilities:
Strategy and planning
- With guidance from the CD and in collaboration with the Head of Programmes (HoP), provide leadership and direction for the design of Country Office strategic frameworks and plans.
- Develop and implement the CO / organization's business development, marketing, and communications strategy in collaboration with the senior management and programme teams.
- Lead on the development and maintenance of a pipeline and funding plan in line with the CO and global strategy to generate sufficient fund to underpin on-going activities and ensure the diversification of funding and financial health of the CO.
Fundraising and resource mobilization
- In line with the business development strategy and country strategy, do a donor mapping and identify and pursue new funding opportunities, manage donor and partner relationships, and oversee the development and submission of high-quality proposals and bids.
- Follow and closely monitor funding trends, policies and positions from new and existing donors.
- Identify relevant corporate sectors and pursue fund raising from CSR perspectives.
- Lead on researching and identifying funding opportunities from new and existing donors by monitoring calls for proposals and funding updates, for solicited and unsolicited opportunities.
- Enhance capacity of programme staff to ensure that everyone acts as fund raiser.
- Disseminate information and research on donors to increase awareness and knowledge and build capacity for in-country funding opportunities.
Partnership, relationship management and representation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including institutional donors (such as EU/ECHO, FCDO, UN etc.), corporate partners, government, and community organizations to secure funding and support.
- Mapp out a few strategic INGOs and local partners to develop and maintain strategic relationships for potential consortia or partnership to advance Muslim Aid's new programme development and raise our profile.
- In collaboration with the HoP, ensure regular coordination and communication with donors, including submitting reports, responding queries, providing update, and attending meetings.
- Train and orient staff on donor requirements, expected outcomes and Muslim Aid's internal procedures regarding external funding.
- Organize events for partnership building with donors, stakeholders, NGOs and potential partners and conduct fundraising activities for Muslim Aid developmental activities, programmes and related priorities
- Attend cluster and other meetings with donors and represent Muslim Aid
- Be cognizant of advocacy opportunities and, following internal discussions, to develop these as appropriate through the media, government, the UN, international agencies, donors and diplomatic missions.
Programme Development and bid management
- Lead on the development of concept notes and situation analyses.
- Coordinate and manage proposals and bids, ensuring that all applications are high quality and aligned with organization's priorities, and meet donor standards.
- Collaboration with all relevant departments, including designing logical frameworks, with realistic and measurable targets, and developing narrative proposals and budgets.
- Enhance capacity of front-line programme staff on proposal development, reports, budgets and charging expenditures.
- Develop success stories, best practices, project brief, presentations and coordinate to prepare knowledge products of different projects for the programmes and share with CD and HoP for HQ and other stakeholders to illustrate impact of the programming.
- Develop and design communication materials, including sector profiles, impact reports, programme briefings and information updates as required for internal and external use.
Financial management
- Monitor the funding pipeline and develop plan for improving the financial growth.
- Track financial targets, monitor sales progress, and use financial techniques to improve revenue.
Leadership and management
- Manage communications and branding officer, including providing guidance and direction.
- Ensure that relevant employees are set with annual SMART objectives and making sure that you are aware of your SMART objectives from your line manager.
- Provide regular one to ones to the relevant employees, ensuring that you adhere to MA’s annual appraisal “PACE” framework.
Other
- Maintain constructive, purposeful, trust based and sincere relations with all colleagues working above or under whether directly or indirectly associated.
- Update management and other concerned with any development, internal or external, which can be of help to improve quality, provide better services and effective working.
- Participate in all meetings, committees, forums, projects and assignments as required and expected.
- Required to travel to project locations and field offices as and when required.
- Ensure that Muslim Aid is compliant with Core Humanitarian Standards, Sphere Standards, etc.
- Comply with all policies, procedures, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Any other duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post.
