  • Candidates with hands-on experience in overseas supplier management and import procurement will have an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of international procurement and sourcing.

  • Advanced MS Excel /Google Sheets/Google Workspace

  • Experience with ERP / procurement systems



Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context

Akij Commodities Ltd., a concern of Akij Resource, is engaged in the import and distribution of food and beverage products sourced from various countries. The company is expanding its imported F&B portfolio and requires an experienced Assistant Manager – Procurement to manage end-to-end international procurement activities, supplier coordination, commercial negotiations, import planning, and timely product sourcing.

The position will play a key role in ensuring the right product, right quality, right supplier, right price, and right delivery timeline while maintaining effective coordination with international suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end international procurement of food and beverage products from overseas suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, required quality, appropriate commercial terms, and timely availability as per business requirements.

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop international suppliers, manufacturers, and brands across different countries, including sourcing new products and alternative suppliers to support business growth and minimize supply risks.

  • Lead commercial negotiations with overseas suppliers covering product price, MOQ, payment terms, Incoterms, lead time, shipment schedule, promotional support, and other commercial conditions to achieve the best possible procurement terms.

  • Perform commercial and landed-cost analysis considering product cost, freight, insurance, customs duty, taxes, exchange-rate impact, port/C&F charges, and other import-related costs to assess overall product cost and profitability.

  • Manage commercial and import documentation and processes, including Purchase Orders, Proforma Invoices, L/C or other payment arrangements, shipping documents, Bill of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates, and other relevant import documents.

  • Coordinate procurement and import shipments with overseas suppliers, Commercial, Finance, Logistics, C&F agents, freight forwarders, banks, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely clearance and delivery of imported products.

  • Develop procurement and import plans based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, product lead times, MOQ, shelf life, and market demand, ensuring product availability while minimizing stock-outs and excess inventory.

  • Monitor supplier, shipment, and commercial performance, including order status, ETD/ETA, delivery timelines, product quality and quantity, documentation, payment status, and supplier commitments, and take corrective actions where required.

  • Conduct international market and product research to identify new food & beverage trends, competitive products, brands, sourcing opportunities, pricing movements, and potential suppliers from different countries.

  • Coordinate new product onboarding and regulatory/compliance requirements with Sales, Marketing, Quality, Commercial, Regulatory, Finance, and other relevant teams, ensuring required product specifications, certifications, approvals, and documentation are available.

  • Prepare procurement and commercial MIS/reports for Management, covering purchase orders, supplier performance, shipment pipeline, landed costs, inventory position, pending shipments, payment status, purchase price movements, and key procurement/commercial risks.

  • Ensure compliance with Company procurement and commercial policies, approval processes, import regulations, and internal controls, while identifying opportunities for cost optimization, supplier diversification, process improvement, and overall procurement efficiency.
