  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and methodologies, as well as construction regulations.

  • Proven experience in project planning and scheduling and resource management with a track record of successful project delivery.

  • Fluent in verbal and written communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders at every level.

  • Knowledge in the use of AutoCAD and other software relevant to engineering projects such as the MS project.

Job Context

Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) is one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh. The Project Department at MGI is primarily responsible for leading and managing the planning, execution, and successful completion of civil engineering projects associated with the organization’s initiatives within its own economic zone. Currently, MGI is looking for Assistant General Manager (AGM) for it’s Project Department. The incumbent will oversee these projects, ensure alignment with organizational goals, compliance with regulations, efficient resource utilization, and effective communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, and will report to the Unit Head of the Department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall planning, execution, and completion of civil engineering projects by setting project scope, schedules, and budgets to meet organizational goals.

  • Establish the total project requirements for civil engineering projects and provide leadership in planning and achieving planned targets on project delivery.

  • Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers and clients to develop effective coordination of project activities in line with the different phases of project development.

  • Provide project leadership and create project schedules evaluating this accomplishment in terms of available cash or funding and resources such as labor, material, and equipment for timely completion of projects.

  • Track the various projects a company is involved in, recognize problems or potential problems that are likely to affect a project’s goals, and make necessary adjustments.

  • Facilitate that the projects adhere to the appropriate standards of the relevant building codes and safety and quality control through inspection and audit.

  • Coordinate with expenditures and cost control measures with the aim at increasing organizational productivity and effectiveness while ensuring performance meets the set financial goals.

  • Develop good relationships with the clients, contractors and all related company departments to first and foremost explain the situation and be on the lookout for any complaints or issues that may arise.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams to foster a collaborative and productive environment by ensuring team alignment with project goals.

  • Coach staff and give direction to the project teams so that they can work effectively and achieve project objectives.

  • Prepare comprehensive progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, detailing project achievements, risks, and recommendations for change within the project.

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of all project documentation, including permits, blueprints, and inspection records for compliance and reference.
