Job Context:
∎ WISH2ACTION is an Integrated Sexual Health for Women brings together five leading organizations, internationally recognized in their field, to offer inclusive, diversified, innovative and integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services in 16 countries to 17 million users. The WISH2ACTION Operational Model is a comprehensive and integrated approach to ensure equitable access to family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), giving priority to the most underserved women and girls, young people under 20, very poor and marginalized populations (including people with disabilities, those displaced or affected by a humanitarian crisis, and people living in hard-to-reach areas).
∎ Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion (HI), being a disability expert organization, will directly implement this project in Kurigram and Sitakund and provide technical support to consortium organization to promote disability inclusive SRH services. HI will implement this project in other 5 countries in Asia and Africa, through a strong regional coordination mechanism.
∎ Accessibility Officer is responsible for overall accessibility and construction works in the WISH project. Under the direct supervision of the Inclusive Health Technical Advisor, implement all requested accessibility and construction works by ensuring the quality following HI’s accessibility guideline and Bangladesh building code instructions standards and match it with the project activity plan.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ 1. IMPLEMENTATION OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES AND ACCESSIBILITY WORKS IN THE PROJECT
∎ Activity:
∎ Finalization of specific area for construction/accessibility activity to improve key targeted infrastructure focusing on universal accessibility design at 42 health services points include Upazila Health Complex, Maternal and Child Welfare Centre (Ma O Shishu kallyan Kendra), Sadar Hospital, District Hospital, Union Health and Family Welfare Centre and Community Clinic
∎ Conduct initial assessment of selected site/identified site for proper planning of site development.
∎ Conduct detailed assessment of pre-identified/selected sites (service providers office/buildings) for proper planning of site development, collaboration with Technical Unit/Technical Advisor
∎ Conduct meeting with DPO representatives and partners, WISH PMs before assessment of any site and conduct assessment with relevant stakeholders during assessment of any site
∎ Prepare drawing of assessment site including accessibility feature
∎ Raise detail purchase service request (PSR) with details specification and closely work with HI logistic team
∎ Provide guidance to logistic team to organize relevant human resources to implement construction/accessibility activity
∎ Properly check and validated all relevant materials which purchase for construction/accessibility activity before deliver to site for implantation
∎ Provide proper guideline to daily basis worker and meet the deadline of specific construction/accessibility activity
∎ Monitor regularly to see if daily labors are using construction materials efficiently
∎ Ensure proper implementation of construction/service providers' accessibility activity.
∎ 2. CAPACITY BUILDING, TEAM WORK AND REPRESENTATION
∎ Activity:
∎ Conduct training/orientation on accessibility feature during planning and implementation phase to different service providers related to construction and accessibility activity so that they can easily implement construction works
∎ Provide basic and specific orientation to service providers for them to understand the importance of accessibility and incorporate them in their facilities
∎ Proper orientation to daily labor/supervisor
∎ Proper networking with relevant stakeholders/authority (DPOs, partner, government authority) to ensure that everybody is aware about HI accessibility standards
∎ Proper representation of HI and justify to different stakeholders and inspire them to maintain accessibility feature in different construction facilities
∎ Ensure proper visibility of HI and WISH project (Donor and partner if needed)
∎ 3.PLANNING, REPORTING, DOCUMENTATION, MONITORING AND EVALUATION AND NETWORKING
∎ Activity:
∎ Develop proper monthly, quarterly plan in line with construction and accessibility work under WISH project's implementing plan
∎ Ensure strong planning with logistic team for submitting PSR on right time to identify potential vendors and ensure that necessary materials are available in the implementation sites
∎ Ensure proper monitoring of each and every activity and provide necessary support
∎ Planning for proper storage mechanism in consultation with logistics team
∎ Report back both verbally and written to the Project Coordinator and Technical Advisor on the progress of the work
∎ Ensure documentation including photo/video of each stages of pre, during and post accessibility implementation etc.
∎ Networking with relevant stakeholders
∎ Regularly participate in relevant coordination meeting.
∎ 4. TRAVEL
∎ Activity:
∎ Ensure regular field visit to finalize specific area for construction/accessibility, detail assessment of selected sites, and orient the construction workers
∎ Ensure frequent monitoring visits to the location/site of construction/accessibility work and guide construction worker for implementing the activities
∎ Type of Contract: Fixed term
∎ Duration of the Contract: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
∎ Job Location: Dhaka, frequent travel to anywhere in Bangladesh
Additional Requirements:

∎ Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

∎ Experience working with the government health facilities is a plus
