. 3 Years technical diploma with specialization in water and sanitation is essential.
• Bachelors in Civil Engineering, Public Health or Environmental Science is preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of Water and Sanitation is essential
• Experience in Public or environmental health programs on a similar role is preferable.
• Solid knowledge of plumbing, pumps, chlorine dosing, borehole operations, waste management, essential.
• Preferable experience in well and borehole maintenance and operation
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in supervising technical field team is essential.
• Fluency in English and Bangla is essential (B1). Fluency in Chittagonian dialect is desirable.
• Essential computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Familiarity with GPS software such as OsmAnd, KOBO, FieldMaps, Google Maps, etc. is preferable.
• Ensuring the day-to-day implementation and administration of assigned Watsan activities at project level, including but not limited to, water supply, excreta disposal, waste management, vector control, and dead bodies management
• Ensuring that the MSF procedures and protocols are followed by the Watsan teams to guarantee the operational quality of the project;
• Ensuring the maintenance and repair of technical equipment in the project to guarantee an adequate running of Watsan activities;
• Ensuring the distribution of the materials and tools used in water treatment, hygiene and sanitation (e.g. physical organization and inventory of stocks, receiving and processing orders for water, sanitation and hygiene material, check that the amounts received are recorded, and check monthly consumptions, etc.);
• Supporting the Watsan Manager in ensuring an appropriate emergency preparedness and response capacity (physical verification of stocks, contacts, transport means, staff training). Ensuring appropriate assistance to the project response team and if required, participating in emergency activities or exploratory visits
• Supporting the Watsan Manager in the team planning (e.g. staff rosters and admin, HR processes, etc.) and informing and involving the Watsan Manager in case of any major management or technical issue, and providing all required reporting
• Planning and supervising the HR processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, tasks definition and internal and external communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required for the activity
• Data collection and reporting as required.
• Oversee teams engaged in the construction, assessment, repair, and maintenance of WatSan infrastructure and facilities, including but not limited to water networks, boreholes, tube wells, and latrines. Provide technical and operational guidance as needed, and assist in the development of BOQs, work schedules, and other project management tools to ensure quality implementation and timely delivery.
• Ensure the implementation of WatSan activities as agreed with the WatSan Manager. Communicate and report challenges timely and actively work and cooperate with the manager to address these.
• Support the WatSan Manager with the preparation of material orders, reports, data analysis and administrative tasks.
• Conduct and oversee various technical assessments on WatSan infrastructures wherever necessary.
• Provide support and training—such as tube well O&M—to the camp’s WASH focals or implementing partners, and to improve and encourage independence and competence among these teams.
• Identify gaps and developmental needs within the WatSan team, and work with the WatSan Manager in identifying suitable solutions and trainings to address these gaps.
• Collaborate closely with local authorities, CiC, and other WASH actors (INGOs, NGOs, UN agencies) to ensure harmonization of interventions and compliance with guidelines, including participation in relevant WASH meetings when delegated.
• Maintain a strong safety-security and inclusive culture within the Watsan team, ensuring that field staff are briefed on risk assessments and follow MSF safety protocols during field operations. Ensures compliance through regular assessments and suitable mitigation measures to be arranged in cooperation with the WatSan manager.
This is a Permanent contract. Salary according to level Six (Level 6) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 85,500 Gross). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax rule. 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy- Locally Recruited Staff.
There is no provisions for relocation. 2 Festival Bonuses after completion of one year of uninterrupted continuous service.
