∎ The Hunger Project (THP) is a global, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. The Hunger Project in Bangladesh was founded in 1991 to foment a volunteer-based movement for overcoming hunger and poverty sustainably. THP in Bangladesh is currently the largest volunteer-based organization in the country, with over 150,000 volunteers working toward self-reliance.

The Hunger Project has pioneered low-cost, bottom-up, gender-focused strategies in each region where hunger persists. These strategies mobilize clusters of rural villages to create and run their own programs that achieve lasting progress in health, education, nutrition and family income.
∎ Project Profile:
∎ The Hunger Project (THP) is implementing the "Youth for Pluralism and Tolerance (YPT)" project in the Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira District. The project is designed to promote pluralism, diversity and tolerance, which are the founding values of Bangladesh, to combat prejudices prevailing in the communities by empowering the leadership of a group of youth to become active citizens. It also mobilizes a group of politically and socially conscious citizens and faith leaders to ensure an enabling environment for youth to show their leadership. The project is designed to bridge the gap between two generations - the young and the old - through a series of meetings, interfaith dialogues, campaigns and other forms of engagement to facilitate a wide range of stakeholders to work together to make their communities tolerant and peaceful. The intention of the project is to address identity-based prejudices, reflected in hate speeches and hate crimes, for communities to achieve a prejudice-free future. Such a future will foster an environment for people of different religions to interact with each other and develop tolerance and appreciation for each other`s religious beliefs, ensuring peaceful co-existence.
∎ Position Profile:
∎ This is a field based (Sadar Upazila) position. Uuder the guidance of the Regional Coordinator, the Upazila Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the project activities according to the project proposal and agreement with donor.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support the coordination and implementation of the assigned project activities as per the project document and in line with THP's program principles, standards and donor requirements;
∎ Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in faiths, political, education and administrative sectors;
∎ Facilitate training, workshops and dialogue on life skills, conflict dynamics, and intercultural ceremonies with youth and community leaders from various socio-political and ethnic backgrounds;
∎ Build community capacity to support youth development to increase the quality and scope of youth provision in community settings, so that young people can be healthy, safe, enjoy and achieve, make positive contributions and able to lead decent lives;
∎ Ensure timely and high-quality reporting which effectively captures impact stories and contributes to institutional learning.
∎ Ensure that program expenditures are in line with the procedures, and policies of THP as well as Donors and strictly monitor that costs do not exceed allocated budget;
∎ Work closely with respective line manager and regional coordinators;
∎ Represent the organization at different forums in the Upazila and District level as and when required;
∎ Any other work required by the management of the organization from time to time.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Experience in the field of mobilization, peace building, and promotion of social harmony.
∎ A least 7-8 years experiences in the related field.
∎ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bangla.
∎ Good connection with political parties, local political leaders, members of the civil society and social activists.
∎ Excellent team player and building relationship.
∎ Exceptional transformative leadership skills for building leadership of others.
∎ Excellent skills in Microsoft ward, Excels, Power points and presentation.
∎ Motorcycle driving.

Salary:
∎ Salary negotiable. PF, Gratuity, festival allowance, life insurance, hospitalization policy for spouse and children are applicable as per HR and financial policy of the organization.
