Responsibilities & Context:

Position Summary

Sports for Hope and Independence (SHI) and Movement In Refuge (MiR) are looking for passionate Training Coordinators (1 Male + 1 Female ) to lead coach development and deliver sports programs for Refugee Communities.

The Training Coordinator will oversee and support MiR’s network of community-based coaches working in the Rohingya refugee camps and along the coastal communities of Cox’s Bazar district. This role requires technical training skills, strong coordination ability, and cultural understanding to ensure our coaches deliver safe, inclusive, and inspiring sports programs.

The Training Coordinator will lead Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions, mentor coaches on the ground, and act as the key link between local teams and MiR’s Global Training & Coaching Advisory Group. The coordinator will also manage the planning and delivery of visits from international volunteer coaches—ensuring these exchanges are well-prepared, impactful, and leave lasting benefits for local coaches and communities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coach Training & Support

  • Lead the delivery of initial and ongoing training for MiR community-based coaches, ensuring a focus on quality, safety, inclusion, and progression.

  • Provide on-the-job mentorship and technical guidance to coaches during regular field visits.

  • Adapt global best practices to the local context, ensuring cultural sensitivity and relevance.

2. Training of Trainers (ToT)

  • Deliver the MiR / SHI training of trainers curriculum to build community-based coaches capacity.   

  • Integrate trauma-informed approaches, youth development principles, and inclusive practices into all training modules.

3. Policy & Safeguarding Training

  • Ensure all coaches receive initial training, regular refreshers and long term support on MiR and SHI key policy areas, including safeguarding, PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment), child protection, and code of conduct.

  • Support coaches to become confident in recognising, preventing, and appropriately responding to risks of abuse, exploitation, trafficking, criminality, and other harms affecting young people.

  • Encourage and equip coaches to hold safe, age-appropriate conversations in their student communities on issues such as online harassment, personal safety, and community risks — reinforcing their role as trusted mentors and guides.

4. Coordination with Global Advisory Group & Visiting Experts

  • Act as the primary liaison between MiR’s Global Training & Coaching Advisory Group and the field-based coaches.

  • Coordinate logistics, schedules, and learning agendas for visits from international volunteer coaches (e.g. in volleyball, roundnet, swimming, yoga, etc.).

  • Ensure that visiting coaches’ expertise is integrated into the long-term development of local coaches.

5. Representation & Partnerships

  • Support the Area Coordinator to build and maintain relationships with local authorities (RRRC, CiCs, DC office), NGO partners, and sports organizations in Bangladesh.

  • Represent MiR in relevant coordination forums and advocacy opportunities in Cox’s Bazar.

6. Monitoring & Learning

  • Work with the MEL Officer to track coach development, training participation, and feedback from students and communities.

  • Document and share field insights with the Global Advisory Group for program improvement.
