• Minimum three (4) years of experience

• Tourism or cultural related experience preferred

• Relevant working experience with PKSF or any project funded by any multi-lateral development partners would be preferred.

• Experience in working in enterprise development related projects will be an added advantage

• Proven knowledge of environmental monitoring regarding use of resource, energy, water, waste-water, waste management, and air emission.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

• Good computer knowledge (MS office suite, typing both English and Bangla).



Responsibilities & Context:

ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.

Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) is going to implement a sub-project titled “Promoting agro-ecological tourism in northern part of Bangladesh” as a part of the “Eco Friendly Tourism Developmentt.

This sub-project aims to sustainably diversify the local economy and enhance community well-being in the northern part of Bangladesh by establishing and promoting agro -ecological tourism as a unique, environmentally responsible, and culturally enriching travel experience

The employee will initially be hired for a one-year term, with the possibility of extending the contract till 30 June 2028, based on satisfactory performance.

ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.

Duties and Responsibilities

The ‘Tourism Promotion and Communication Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and will undertake the following duties and responsibilities, which are essential but not limited to:

• Develop and implement strategic communication plans to promote ESDO’s eco-tourism and cultural tourism initiatives.

• Design promotional materials (brochures, videos, digital content, social media campaigns, etc.).

• Collaborate with tourism stakeholders, local government, and community groups for tourism development activities.

• Manage social media pages, website content, and press releases related to tourism projects.

• Organize tourism fairs, cultural exhibitions, and community-based tourism events.

• Developing communication goals and strategies to promote the organization's activities, products, and services to target audiences.

• Collect success stories, write articles, and prepare reports for donors and partners.

• Liaise with local government (Union Parishad, Upazila Parishad), tourism boards, and private operators for joint promotional events.

• Support capacity-building activities for local entrepreneurs, guides, and community tourism groups.

• Assist in organizing tourism fairs, cultural festivals, and eco-tourism awareness campaigns. Support the development of marketing partnerships and branding strategies.

• Managing the organization's social media presence, including content posting and engagement.

• Developing and disseminating information internally to employees through newsletters and other channels
