Candidate Profile

We recognize that many experienced professionals in Bangladesh have developed their careers primarily within the apparel and clothing industry rather than the costume industry.

Direct costume experience is therefore not mandatory.

Candidates with strong garment technical knowledge, factory experience and the ability to learn new product categories are encouraged to apply. Experience with costumes, licensed products, children's products or products subject to toy-safety requirements will be considered an advantage.

The successful candidate should have:

• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in garment technical, sourcing, merchandising, product development, production or a closely related function.

• Strong knowledge of textiles and fabrics.

• Good understanding of garment construction, fit, measurements, sewing, printing, trims and workmanship.

• Experience reviewing samples and identifying technical or production issues.

• Experience working directly with garment factories and suppliers.

• Understanding of costing and Bill of Materials.

• Knowledge of product quality, testing and supply-chain compliance.

• Awareness of product safety requirements and factory audit processes.

• Ability to assess potential risks, solve problems and recommend practical solutions.

• Experience managing multiple developments, factories or customer requirements simultaneously.

• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.

• Good computer and general IT skills.

• Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated while working offshore.

• Good professional spoken and written English and a willingness to continuously improve communication skills while working with international teams.

The selected candidate will receive appropriate onboarding, product training and ongoing guidance to develop a strong understanding of our costume products, technical requirements, internal processes and global ways of working.

As part of the onboarding and development program, the selected employee will be required to travel to China for training with our China-based team. This training is intended to provide practical exposure to our products, technical standards, quality requirements, sourcing processes and ways of working.

We understand that becoming fully familiar with a specialized product category takes time, and the selected candidate will be provided with a reasonable training and onboarding period.

Travel and Working Requirements

This is a full-time, Bangladesh-based offshore position.

The role requires regular travel to factories and suppliers within Bangladesh. Candidates must be comfortable with frequent field visits and should not expect the position to be performed exclusively from home.

The selected employee must be willing and able to travel to China for company training as required. Additional international travel may also be necessary depending on business requirements. Candidates should therefore hold a valid passport and be eligible and prepared to undertake international business travel.

As this position supports a global organization, there may occasionally be meetings with colleagues in the USA, UK, China and other locations outside normal Bangladesh business hours. Reasonable flexibility to accommodate international time zones will therefore be required.

As this is an offshore position, applicants must have their own reliable laptop/computer, a stable and uninterrupted high-speed internet connection, and dependable mobile phone connectivity. Candidates must be able to participate in video meetings, communicate with international teams, access company systems and remain reachable during required working hours. Reliable connectivity is an essential requirement for this position.

Job Purpose

The role will work closely with our established factory base in Bangladesh and will also support the identification and development of new manufacturing partners when required.

This is a hands-on position requiring significant time in factories to understand products, review samples, identify technical and quality issues, support production and communicate clearly with international teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of garments, textiles, product development and factory operations. The successful candidate should be confident discussing garment construction, fabrics, trims, measurements, workmanship, costing and Bill of Materials (BOM), while also understanding the commercial requirements of sourcing.

The position will support the business in maintaining strong supplier relationships, improving quality and efficiency, controlling costs and ensuring products are developed and delivered in line with required standards and timelines.

The role will involve regular collaboration with Design, Sourcing, Technical, Quality and Supply Chain teams across the USA, UK, China and other international locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical and QA, Merchandising & Sourcing support to our Bangladesh factory base.

• Visit factories regularly to review development, sampling, production and quality.

• Support product development from initial sample through approval and production.

• Review garment construction, measurements, workmanship, fabrics, trims, printing and other product details.

• Understand and review Bill of Materials (BOM) and product specifications.

• Work with factories to identify and resolve technical, construction and production issues.

• Support costing of costumes, garments and accessories, including fabrics, trims and packaging.

• Communicate and negotiate with factories regarding costing, development requirements, quality, production schedules and shipment dates.

• Support the sourcing and evaluation of new factories and suppliers when required.

• Understand the capabilities and strengths of individual factories and recommend appropriate factories for product development.

• Follow Critical Path requirements and ensure developments and production remain on schedule.

• Liaise closely with Design, Sourcing, Technical, Quality and Supply Chain teams.

• Support management in improving margins and identifying opportunities to reduce costs without compromising product quality.

• Maintain awareness of product safety requirements, testing standards and factory compliance requirements.

• Support factory audits, corrective actions and customer compliance requirements when necessary.

• Consider sustainability and responsible sourcing requirements when working with suppliers.

• Identify potential production, quality or delivery risks early and work with the relevant teams to find practical solutions.

• Support products for Smiffys, Christy's, Rubies II, Masquerade and other relevant customer or national account programs as required.

• Travel within Bangladesh to supplier locations and, when required, travel internationally or spend temporary periods outside Bangladesh.
