Job Context:
∎ Uttaran is an NGO working Bangladesh since 1985 (www.uttaran.net). Uttaran is a people cantered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.
∎ The Project aim to rehabilitation and restoration of livelihoods of flood affected communities by providing safe water, Sanitation, communication, income generation and improve climate resilience livelihoods. It will serve with key 4 component/outcome include; 1. Improve access to climate resileant safe water facilities among affected communities, 2. Improve climate resilient sanitation failities and hygiene practices, 3. Mitigate seasonal vulnerability and lean period economic insecurity for sustainable survivals of flood affected communities. 4. Strengthened people readiness to climate risk reduction and improve community resilience 5. Improved access to safe and dignified shelter opportunities for flood prone communities in Sunamganj district of Bangladesh.

∎ Report to: Project Coordinator
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the overall supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Technical Officer will be responsible and accountable for the implementation of Sanitary Latrine, Hand Water Pump (Tube well), Safe and Dignified Shelter and Hygiene Promotion activities in the designated area of duty in Sunamganj district. The candidate will be places in 2 upazila and will have extensive travel to the project site for accomplishing his/her responsibilities.
∎ Technical Officer will be responsible for the following tasks:
∎ Conduct Group discussion to community level to identify need of appropriate Sanitary Latrine, Hand Water Pump, Safe and Dignified Shelter and include inclusion.
∎ Assist to design of Sanitary Latrine, Hand Water Pump, Safe and Dignified Shelter and prepare of site list according community participation.
∎ Assist to make construction workplan according to the project ending timeline with the management.
∎ Daily basis construction work supervision, monitoring and give suggestions to the worker after consulting responsible personnel. Control materials quality with the entire work quality.
∎ Prepare construction monitoring report weekly basis and assist to compiling it.
∎ Innovate new ideas among activity to meet the need of beneficiary.
∎ Communicate daily basis to the worker and vendors according to field findings.
∎ Monitoring and Supervision of distribution activity daily basis.
∎ Maintain water quality by water quality checking and give direction to the responsible authority.
∎ Assist to make Purchase requirement to the management to ensure availability of service.
∎ Maintain daily various register to assist to make Monthly quantitative report of activity.
∎ Assist and guide the Field Facilitators for smooth functioning of the project.
∎ Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities.
∎ Good understand local language and fluent communication with the community would get preference.
∎ Participate in workshops and trainings in the field of WASH but not only, in order to broaden the knowledge and share it with colleagues and beneficiaries.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 40 years
∎ 03 years working experience on WASH-related program and among them at least 02 years of experience in similar position
∎ Previous work experience in construction and design
∎ Previous work experience in emergency settings
∎ Fluently spoken and written English
∎ Skilled in computer literacy, reporting and others related documentation
∎ Demonstrated professional credibility in the sector and experience working in an international or cross-cultural environment
∎ Knowledge of WASH and public health and experience in practically applying this knowledge in humanitarian context
∎ Skill on designing Hygiene promotion activities, Sanitary Latrine, Hand Water Pump, Safe and Dignified Shelter and good command in design software, Auto CAD etc
∎ Good computer skill is an additional qualification
∎ Willing to travel in remote areas
∎ Willingness to be based in the field.
∎ Commitment to working with Humanitarian organization.
∎ Willing to drive motorcycle with valid driving licence
Salary:
∎ Monthly salary BDT. 45,000/- including all benefits
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ As per Uttarans Policy and Project Design.
