Education:

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or facilitating learning activities for children, preferably in non-formal or community-based education settings.
• Prior experience working with vulnerable, working, or at-risk children is an advantage.
• Familiarity with basic literacy and numeracy teaching methods for out-of-school children.
• Willingness to work in an informal industrial/RMG cluster environment.
• Proficiency in Bangla (spoken and written).

Skills and Competencies

• Strong classroom facilitation and child-friendly teaching skills.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable children.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills for engaging parents, caregivers, and Ostads.
• Ability to identify early signs of dropout risk or distress among children and respond appropriately.
• Basic record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Commitment to child rights, child safeguarding, and non-discriminatory practice.
• Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with project staff, CLECs, and community stakeholders.

Position Overview:

The Non-Formal Education Teacher is responsible for delivering structured non-formal education activities for children enrolled in the project’s non-formal education program at the assigned learning centre under the ILO-supported project, “Reduction of Child Labour in Informal Ready-Made Garment (RMG) Sector at Keraniganj Upazila”. The role will conduct child-friendly and engaging learning sessions, maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, monitor children’s attendance and learning progress, and facilitate recreational and life-skills activities. Working under the supervision of the Field Facilitator, the Teacher will regularly report on class operations, student progress, attendance, and any safeguarding concerns, while maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with the project’s curriculum, guidelines, child safeguarding standards, and organizational policies.

Preferred Job Description/Responsibility

Non-Formal Education Teaching (as per project design)

• Deliver structured non-formal education classes at the assigned Centre as part of the project's non-formal education program.
• Maintain a safe, well-equipped and engaging learning environment for children at the Centre, using the logistics and learning materials provided by the project.
• Track and record individual student progress, attendance, and completion status throughout the programme.
• Participate in initial and refresher training on non-formal education techniques provided by the project.
• Participate in monthly teacher coordination meetings to review student progress, challenges, and way forward.
• Support the organization of Children's Graduation Day events at the end of each cohort, including recreation, learning, and course-completion recognition, and the award of completion certificates.
• Facilitate life-skills sessions for children enrolled at the Centre, in line with the project’s curriculum and learning objectives.

Parent, Caregiver and Ostad Engagement

• Conduct regular meetings/communication with parents, caregivers, and Ostads (workplace mentors) of enrolled children to update them on the child's attendance and progress, and to encourage continued participation.
• Coordinate with parents/caregivers and Ostads to address barriers to attendance and reduce the risk of dropout.

Reporting and Coordination

• Maintain accurate class records, attendance registers, and student progress documentation.
• Report regularly to the Child Protection Officer on class operations, student attendance, dropout risks, and any protection concerns identified among enrolled children.

Child Safeguarding

• Adhere to BLF's Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct in all interactions with children at the Centre.
• Refer any child protection or safeguarding concern to the Child Protection Officer/designated Safeguarding Focal Point without delay.
